Hi all,
Just a report on my setup

I replaced my regency I1200 insert that I ran 24/7. Tough task but it heated our 1100 sqft poorly insulated 1950 home with around 3 cords of hardwood just north of Boston.

The replacement BK has been a dream. Cold monthe I always get consistent 12 hour burns. Shoulder season I can get 24 hours easily however I usually do half loads to keep at the 12 hour load cycle. I'm currently at 2.5 cords on this cold winter and boy what a relief. I'm not sure if I would have any wood left by now with my previous set up.
I like the house warm so the stove rm is 72-78. Old stove had trouble getting to 70 consistent but I was pushing that tough regency.
Most important I have not heard a single complaint from the wife and kids on being cold. I win! Haha. Also my wife has not had to touch the stove. Man, happy wife happy life.

It's a great stove, I love mine but my house is too big for the stove. Yes, they are easy to run, set and forget once you know your settings.

Do you think i'll be alright with an 1,800 sf brick colonial home? Obviously there are many factors..house has medium insulation with old windows. Setup is good with large doorways and compact layout, two stories. I'll burn only seasoned mixed hardwood. Do you think I'll have trouble keeping the upstairs at 70 degrees? btw,i'm in the process of renovating the fireplace so the avatar is outdated.

Brick colonial works for BrotherBart. Don't be shy on burning softwood, especially in milder weather. The BK will have no problem with it. The important thing is to be sure that whatever wood you are burning is dry to the core.

1800' total? That stove will do the job, no sweat. We keep the bedroom cooler but if you hang out upstairs I could see why you'd want 70...

I have the same regency stove and run it 24/7 hard task and same hard to get above 70..been doing some floating around reading up on bk...looks like there will be a bk in my house soon also
