Hi guys,
just picked up this stove at a garage sale for 150 bucks, so I took a chance. Figured I could part it out for that. I got it home and put it in the garage and started dissecting it. Luckily it still had the original manual. Lo and behold, the old dog fired right up, even with the old pellets in it. I love the old school look of this thing and it seems to be a really well built stove. My question is........what is the BTU rating of this stove? I cant find it anywhere in the manual or on the stove. Any input on this old beauty would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim

You could just time how long it takes to eat a weighed amount of pellets and figure that a pound is about 8k btus and most stoves have an efficiency of around 80 percent. We like pictures of projects etc.

Hi, appreciate the formula for burn rate, but someone out there must have some info on this model?

The stove was built from 1992 to 1996 and PM shut down in 1996. Anybody with btu info is gonna be rare.

Hello

That was the Hearth stove made from 1992 to 1996
Here is some more information.
http://www.hearthtools.com/pellet/2000.html

The Stove BTUs are usually calculated on input so efficiency does not matter.

If the pellets are 8,300 BTUs per pound then the stove is approx 40,000 BTU stove running on high. I think that is what the stove is rated in the old brochures

Auger Feed times for stoves made after 1-1-94 times may very
High 17 Sec on / 3 sec off 4.75 pounds per hour
Med 12 sec on / 8 sec off 2.5 pounds per hour
Low 8 sec on / 12 sec off 2.25 pounds per hour
Keep fire mode 4 sec on / 16 sec off .8 pounds per hours

Thanks, that is a really nice flame. Is the burnpot rotating? Hard to see that in the video.
Yes it turns fine. Hard to see unless you are shining a flashlight in there. Too bad they went out of business. Looks like a simple well designed stove to me.

Yes, and many of the stoves still work. Thanks for the video. With a flame like that it must heat really well!

I just picked up the same stove how hot should the air be coming out of the stove. Forgot to mention this is my first pellet stove I'm going to heat my 26x24 garage with it

To many variables, fan speeds, input temperature, fuel feed rate and quality , how clean

Thanks...I'm gonna clean the heat exchanger today. What happens if bringing in fresh air isn't feasible? It is gonna be in my garage so the intake air will be coming from there

It will work fine in your garage, without the OAK it will draw outside air in around your doors and any cracks around the structure. So you will be sending air out the chimney that you have already heated. But its up to you

May want to check about local regulations about its installation. Some require an elevated platform for install of a solid fuel heater in a garage.
