Just replaced my door gasket and I'm wondering if I need to let the gasket sealant (silicone based) to fully cure before turning the stove back on.

The sealant only says that it will be cured within 24 hours, but gives no indication of whether the stove can be running or not.

I would like to know the answer to that question too since I'll probly replace mine in the spring with graphite gasket

Reading the label of a tube of Permatex high temp gasket maker "Allow 24 hours to fully cure before filling with fluids or return to service"

A night without the stove? sigh...

71 out here in MN. Have the windows open at least for another couple hours.

I use what Meeco Red Devil supplies with their graphite rope kits. Gasketing Cement and stove sealer. Basically water glass-sodium silicate. Close the door for couple hours to dry and enjoy.

That too is water glass adhesive. Note the very high temp of 2000F. Silicone high temp is a high of 650

Looks like it should work. Good luck

I haven't opened it yet if you think I should get something better I can take it back?

I doubt if the companies themselves manufactured the rope and adhesive but bought and repacked. I would feel confident in using
