Warmer weather finally started to find its way up here, I'm going to sweep the chimney and give the stove a good cleaning tonight, its suppose to be in the 40's and rain Sunday so, i'll still do fires, just not as hard core.

A couple back to back rainy 40 degree days and we are back to burning full time. House is warm, wife is happy, life is good.

We're living in ideal heat pump weather once it gets over 50F. Much more efficient and cleaner. And no loading at all.

Winter is long gone here. My broccoli and cabbages went to seed already! I could put in my summer plants but they are still a little small in their cups - I say by mid April I will have the entire summer crop in and might actually see tomatoes in May!
For the record - I would much prefer it be unseasonable cold than warm. These early warmups just concentrate the amount of work that needs to be done into a much tighter window.

In spring I'm outside unless it's raining. The house warms up with sunshine pretty well and retains the warm. If I want a fire in the evening I light one. If not, no problem, we have a warm cat that is happy to snuggle. In these temps there probably wouldn't be a lightshow with a cat stove anyway so it's a zero sum gain for me.

I keep one stove going 24/7 in that weather, in the spring. Average temp on your forecast is near 55F, and this mass of stone house is still holding chill from winter.

The opposite is true in fall, I am one of the last to need heat.

Those must be the dumbest deer in the whole country, perhaps only surpassed by the deer population of North Dakota. Don't they know that deer can survive in North Carolina, where the flowers are already blooming?

I've got a lot of respect for an animal that can survive here sleeping in the snow and eating maple branches. Sheesh. I looked at them through the binoculars in the morning and they actually look pretty healthy. I don't know how the turkeys do it either.

We're back at it today. I'm not shoveling this dump on principle. The sun has to take care of it this time of year…

70's here yesterday. High 40's and dropping throughout the day today. Snow tonight and tomorrow. Spring is scheduled too return for the third or fourth time this year Sunday with temps around 70*F.

In the 40's here also. Just filled the stove with some pine just to keep the chill out of the house, and so the pregnant wifey comes home to a toasty living room. Could see some wet snow tonight. Warm again by the weekend.
Oh wait, I loaded it with some conifer wood, I mean, uh, some softwoods, because um, nobody burns pine. Yeah, nobody burns pine at all.
