Both stove types make plenty of flames for most people. I have and like both! For 100% flames you can buy natural gas stoves.

I think the management at Comcast spent less time discussing the purchase of Time Warner Cable, before they dropped $70 billion on it, than you have spent discussing the potential purchase of a $3000 stove. It's time to move on this, SoS! ;lol

LOL - true. I know I've spent more time on it than picking our house and picking our latest car, combined.

I’m with you , I’ve already told OP he is stressing too much about flames

Hey now! I found some of your posts when you were searching... I thought I was reading my own words!

Not me. I prefer to do all my second guessing before I buy. Lol

Me too - guess I'm especially worried as some large hasty purchases lately turned out rather poorly. I hate making hasty decisions but sometimes you just have to - or, if you're like me - you research so much that you really don't know what you want anymore, and then some deadline looms large (like the snow that will be flying soon) and you end up making a hasty decision in the end anyway. Ugh!

I have yet to see a flame show equal to the HarmanTL-300. I dont run this stove every day but i will take a video this season and put it on You tube. Its a downsdraft stove so the flame is forced down the front through the fire and out the rear bottom of the firebox. It makes for some dazzling shows. At times you swear you are watching the Northern Lights. Im a fire show junkie too. I recently bought a Summers heat
SHSSW02-50 Primarily for the large viewing door ,and the visibility of the fire.

Easy question. How did this thread get so long? ;)

It had those magical words in the title, “cat vs non-cat”. You’d not see a greater divide than if you asked, “red vs blue” or “distilled vs fermented”.

You forgot the classic "bark up/bark down/debark" debate. Speaking of which I wonder what kind of flame show you would get...just kidding;).

i thought it had to be fermented to be distilled, at least if we're referring to spirits, correct?

In practical terms, maybe. But technically, no.
https://news.stanford.edu/news/2014/april/ethanol-without-plants-040914.html

For example you started with ethanol that was never distilled and added it to fruit juice, you could distil schnapps, no fermentation involved.

It may actually be something they do already, because you can ferment the requisite alcohol levels from a vat of sugar way more cheaply than you can ferment it from a vat of strawberries.

This is where BeGreen says we've committed a Lewis & Clark and gone off trail!
