$228 per ton for 3 or more tons for FIRESIDE ULTRA. Has anyone used these yet? They were pretty good last year.

Where did you get them? I’m in ny but not that far from mass. I tried them a few years ago and they were pretty good. I just tried a couple bags of stove chows from a local hd and they actually burned pretty good.

I'm in Greenfield, 40 minutes east of North Adams, Ma. I didn't purchase the pellets yet. I tried one bag last month and it seemed pretty good but I am going to have to try another couple asap since batches could vary. I didn't think the Chows from HD were as good as the Ultras last year.

Been starting to burn FSU from this deal and theyve been great. Buy with confidence.

I have an englander 25pvdc. It has been working fine until today. It starts up fine, but after it starts producing heat it stops feeding pellets. After it cools a bit it starts feeding pellets again.....any help would be great.

Thanks CBL and Tiggar61 for the recommendations. Right now I'm trying to evaluate amount of ash in Cubex vs. FU. I have an ash sample from a bag of FU and I'm waiting for the bag of cubex to finish up. If there is a huge % difference in ash that may play into my purchase decision. (Less ash means less work cleaning the stove)

roweman88-- sorry can't help there. If you post your problem in the main Pellet Room forum you should get very good Englander stove help.

If you want less ash and more heat I would suggest a soft wood pellet like Spruce Point or Lacrete.I like Firesides for there heat but they do produce a bit more ash than a good softwood.

I used to burn spruce pointes so i'm fairly familiar with a soft wood / low ash pellet. to be honest, i haven't been too disappointed with the ash output of the FSU hardwood blend. the heat output has been really good from my P35i and dont mind dumping the ash pan a few more times for the savings.

Result of test:

FU (on right) was 2g heavier than Cubex but volume of ash was less.

1 bag Cubex: 63 grams
1 bag FU: 61 grams

The softwoods would cost me around here $60 per ton more than FU!

I just picked up a ton of pellets from Home Depot in east greenbush and I figured they were chows but they were FSU so I hope they are good

I haven't liked TSC pellets for over two years. Plus they are $20 more per ton than HD (which I like better).

I wonder how they compare to the Firesides I had delivered last week from HD in Gfld.

I think the chows are burning hotter. I have used both and am going to pick up a couple tons of chows. really procrastinated this year.

Can I ask why you dont like them?

The two bags I tried this year didn't seem any hotter than Fireside Ultra, maybe less so. There were unusually long pellets mixed in, there was more loose powder than typical, and they were $20 more per ton than FU. FU seemed more consistent to me over the last couple of years and the price seems to be the best in the area for what I consider a decent pellet.

Do agree with inconsistency in size, and is alot of fines in bag..planning trip to HD in your town, will grab a few bags of the FU'S to see how they burn in my Accentra....thanks for replies

After burning around 10-15 bags I'd say these Home Depot FU's are ashier than they were the last couple of years. At least they are very low in fines and size of pellets are consistent. Heat is average.

Not in Western ma (cape cod area), but I burned firesides all last year and I'm on my first ton this year. They still through great heat, just more Ash this year in my experience.

Just picked up five bags of FU at Home Depot Danvers MA. I'll report back on how they burn.
$249/ton. $229 if buying 5 tons or more. $5:18 /single bags. Product of Canada printed on pallet.
