My stove is an Encore 2040 2N1 flexburn that is now 4 years old
One of the combustor honeycomb walls is missing from the combustor.
I am closing the damper at 500 degrees, and when I start moving the air control towards closed I can see that there is secondary burn happening.
Should I but the VC combustor or the one made by Condar?

I wouldn't throw out a cat for one broken cell. Does it still work?

If it glows when run hard, and you don't see smoke, keep it!

4 years is easily old enough for it to hit the end of its service life if you burn 24x7, but maybe yours doesn't have that many hours on it.

I burn 24/7. My stove is my main source of heat.
I still see red glowing in the background after closing the damper.

Sounds like it's still good but I like to have a spare on hand just in case. Isn't the condor the same as the VC combustor?

How much of it is missing? That stove has a tiny cat compared to other cat stoves, it can’t afford to lose too much.

Just 1 of those walls separating the cells is missing- all single cells except now there is 1 double cell because the wall/divider between the 2 cells is gone.
Firecat combustor?

Cancel that, I just looked at it.

I think I need a new one. I was going to buy an extra last year but didn’t, and they jumped in price.

I got one directly from firecat it was 136 dollars and free shipping
I keep an extra on hand. I i have dropped one already, one broke and was under warranty. Its better to keep one around

Whoa! Before replacing it you need to figure out what you did wrong and stop it or your new cat will be destroyed too.

Maybe pulling out while hot was a bad idea.
I already ordered a VC replacement.

You can find gasket kits on amazon.

Thanks, I went ahead and placed the order.

What’s the best way to remove the old gasket?
