Just saw a 9 year old CB1200 for sale ($475) that had a noisy distribution motor and a noisy exhaust fan. They had a mild but annoying grinding tone. How much quieter can I expect it to get if I replace both motors?

I know the quietest Quad is the Mt. Vernon, but at $3900 I can't afford it. Just trying to get as close as possible.

Good price I would buy it. Thats kind of a tough question. Your tolerance of stove operation is probably dif from mine. My cb1200 is in its 17 year and i can hear the auger come on, blowers running. I have to turn up the tv a bit more. But i always listen for the stove so when something changes i can address it. You could put sound pads in any stove and lessen the resonance. But if your gonna have a stove there will be sounds that come with it. Go to a dealer and listen to a new one. If you put in 2 new motors its damn near new lol

Can't hear it at a dealer! He only has a Mt. Vernon operating.

Thanks for the input.

The fans sound like they are on their way out. So also sounds like new fans are in order. You can keep the old ones and clean them up for spares. You are talking close to 500.00. This adds to the price of the stove. And depending on how the stove was taken care of, depends on if you will be spending any more money on it. If rest is good, could be a good purchase. kap
