My Surefire 512H got hit by lightning so I am considering my options, would love to hear IF or what you all are using!
I would love something that I could hook up my batteries for extended run time!

THANKS

I'm using an APC Smart-UPS 750. It's a pure sine wave and gives me about 2 hours of run time which is long enough to get the stove shutdown. If I need it longer I start up the generator.

I have a Cyberpower 1500 PFCLCD. Can get 1.5 to 2 hours run time. It’s a pure sine wave and also conditions the power.

I use a pure sine wave inverter/charger from AIMS Power. It is their 600watt model, and it is charging a 100Ah battery typically used with wind/solar. It should take care of my Harman Absolute43 for about 1.5 hours before any need to fire up the Honda.

A surge or lighting ? A direct or even indirect strike with lighting even a UPS may not be able to defend against. You can get a big UPS and hope it helps. I have had a UPS for 20 years with extended run time. Check Youtube.com on how to extend your UPS run time. I did that 20 years ago and the same UPS is still being used. I did get an 8 hour stove run time until I turned it off. Batteries last about 8 years.
I added a whole house Sure Protector, basically it replaces two circuit breakers next to each other, still allowing those connections to be used. If you have extra spaces in your breaker box, they sell just surge protectors. Either should be placed nearest your main breaker according to the research I've seen. You can still use a UPS and surge protectors elsewhere in the home. With all these electronics, these breakers are dirt cheap insurance. Replaced my double oven as my oven's control was going bad (20 years old) and it would cost over $200 to fix it as parts are no longer available. Any double oven cost $1,200 - $1,600+, even washers and dryers are $600 to $1000 and they all have electronics anymore. Fry them and you are looking at a $300 repair. Home Depot and Lowes as well as Amazon sells these breaker surge breakers. Took all of 15 min to install. Hardest part was unscrewing the wire nut, they had them on gorilla tight.
