Would it be worth to install a blower?

Hello,

I have and old (around 1988) Scan insert that seems to be designed to have a blower and there is an electric cord in there. However the blower is missing or possibly was never installed.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have a blower installed? Would this really help with heating the area?

Thanks in advance!

A blower is a necessity for a flush insert if the goal is heating. Whether that is feasible in this old insert I don't know. Can you see where the cord is going? It looks odd and might have been something jerry-rigged.

Thank you Begreen. Yes, the goal is heating. The cord was inside and I pulled it out. This insert was installed by a local fireplace business, I went to their shop to ask about this (and about the inside bricks, they are cracked) but they have told me to contact the current Scan dealers. If the blower is a necessity I will definately contact them to see if it can be installed. Thanks again!

Is the cord attached to anything inside the stove?

Actually there are two cords inside, they seem to be attached to the base of the insert. The cord that is sticking out is apparently not live.

I have contacted the current Scan (+ Jotul) dealer and they will ask the factory in Denmark if it is possible to get the original blowers or install other, compatible ones. They didn't seem very optimistic about it ... let's see.
