Just cleaned mine today, nice rainy day to clean the pellet stove.

I also have stashed away 4 1/2 tons of Hamer's pellets for next year. Got 4 tons for 205/ton in May and have them all stacked in the basement and ready for next winter.

$205 is an awesome deal for quality Hamer's pellets that have low ash content. . Personally I like softwood pellets since I believe it is easier on the Harman auger. If I could have gotten that deal I would have jumped on it.

I cleaned for summer, usually by July 4, my first several years. More recently, I always tell myself I’ll do the same, but there are too many more pressing things to take up my time in the spring. I think I got it done just three weeks before lighting up for the first time, at the end of last summer, and this year is shaping up to be the same.

I will empty the ashes in the spring, but the full vacuum out and chimney brushing has lost priority, until I need to use it in the fall. I do have one advantage few others have, doors on each of my fireplaces. Once closed, no one knows there’s even a stove behind them.

My batch of hamers last winter were quite coarse and very ashy. Wouldn.t buy again.burning all softies next season.

I would like to try some Softwood pellets, I just do not run into them any where close to me. Energex, Hamer's, Lignetics and what every Home Depot, Lowes, and Tractor supply are carrying are about all I have access to close. Always been happy with the Hamer's as well as the Energex, that is all I have used.

also wife didn't like me bringing in spiders/bugs attached to the wood.
easier ways to stay warm in the winters.

Haha... you got me there! This thread just came up on my feed, no idea it was on the pellet forum.

Spiders are worth at least 1 BTU each! They don’t have a chance to wake up or hop off, between my outside patio and the stove.

Finally got my stove and pipes cleaned this weekend. A two day project, or two partial days. It’s a Ravelli so a complete cleaning is tedious. I take pretty much completely apart and deep clean. Lower pipes come off to move stove for access. Then need to inspect and repair silicone gaskets where needed. A pain but the stove runs nicely during the season. Did have a bear of a time last winter isolating a problem to a defective air flow circuit. Need to order a spare on that one $$. Otherwise very efficient stove.

I’m almost done with mine. I was brushing the pipe from outside and the brush came out wet and muddy. The 45 on the end was never sealed. Never had that happen. I put some silver tape on it and will try again this weekend to clean the exhaust passage. Everything else is done, used cooking spray in the firebox for the first time, thanks to those here for the tip! I’ll have to put the ESP back in the pipe and reassemble the shrouds in back.

many of us put a small can of damprid in the firebox to absorb moisture thruout the summer.
few bucks at hardware store.
I know in the fall i have about 1/2 inch of water in the bottom of the can..
how it get's there i don't know. my exhaust is closed off for the summer.

This is how I plug my exhaust, couple bucks from Lowe's. The oak I just stuff a rag in.

Looks to me like an Oatey 6 inch drain plug.

I stuff wadded up newspaper in the end then cover with a plastic freezer back and rubber band around that to keep it on.

Nope, finally got the house cooled off to 72* from a high of 80* yesterday. Will only get warmer from here for the next week.
