Looking for some help on how to to finnish off the sides on a raised hearth pad. Was thinking of doing wood trim but can't decide, would love to see some pics of what you guys have done.

Are you talking about the part that goes up the wall? Looks like your hearth is finished.

Im talking the sides of the hearth pad. I wanna make it about 6 inches tall just dont know what would look the best around the base/sides of the pad on top is gonna be ceramic tile and the back wall is gonna be dry stack stone.

If you choose a stone look, make sure to price out local masonry places first for real stone. I found that the real stuff (I was using dark slate) was the same price as manufactured.

I used oak ripped to the correct width and a small crown molding along the floor to finish it off.

I found another picture of the whole hearth. 411F5ABB-50E5-4D9B-AABE-732AE5881208.jpeg

It’s a trim piece sold in the tile isle. Not sure what the correct term is. Comes in different styles and colors.

What is the small metal strip on top?

That sir is simple, beautiful and love the joinery detail.

Thank you, its turning out pretty well. The joints will be filled with walnut like in that corner and trimmed flush. But the flush trimming is proving to be a bit difficult with the already stained cherry trim. I've got a flush cut saw on the way from amazon and might have to live with the splines a little proud if I can't manage to keep the stained surface in good shape.
