Hi guys. I’m new to the site. I have been researching wood burning inserts for my fireplace and have a few that I am interested in. I have been talking to a local dealer and the unit he believes I would be most satisfied in is the Ironstrike Montlake 300. I have a very large space to heat and this unit is supposed to put out 100,000 btu’s using a patented Thermal Fin Technology. I have looked everywhere online for any reviews on this product but have had no luck finding anything good or bad. Does anyone have any experience with this brand or better yet this unit?

I have a Montlake 230. After about 4 years of moderate use, the blower needed to be replaced. Looks like a bad design as the blades were dented pretty bad. The one they sent to replace it was a completely different design, so I'm guessing it was a common problem. That said, that's the only major issue I've had and it's worked well. Good luck.

Thanks Moonshine. What’s the burn time like for the 240?

I misspoke its a 230. It’s probably a lot smaller than the one you’re looking at. Burn time about 4 hours. Can extend it a bit with the right conditions.

4 hours out of a 2.3 cubic foot box? That’s not very good to hear.
