We are looking at a CORNER gas fireplace for our cottage -- Our daughter with young children wants an insert for safety reasons. Our son from Alaska wants a free-standing gas fireplace. Here's my question: is there an insert that most resembles a free-standing stove in design? Baby gates is not an option. Propane fuel, about 30,000 BTU's. Thanks.

If you want a corner unit, there are a number of manufacturers that make them...Regency & Heat & Glo come to mind.
If your daughter wants in INSERT, she needs to have a FIRE PLACE to INSERT it into. There are MANY manufacturers that make them.
If your son wants the wood stove look, it will have to be a STOVE not a FIRE PLACE. Again, there are many manufacturers.
All three of you can get units in the 30K BTU range that burn LP. I suggest you go to your local hearth shop & look at what they have.
If baby gates are NOT an option, you probably shouldn't get one. Each style will get VERY hot & are not safe for young children to play near.
My language was confused. She wants a corner unit. Thanks for your help. I am guessing the clearance issues are pretty much the same for all. I am going to a hearth shop today to check them out. If you have any thoughts on clearance that would be helpful. Thanks!
The nice thing about using a child gate is that it is portable
& can be removed when the children are not around...
