Imperial stove board

was curious if you all have any experience with this brand of hearth pad and, if so, any votes of confidence? Most interest in hearing about its durability.

Imperial is not known for quality. Low quality, low price.

I remember seeing Imperial hearts for sale at the local True Value. They were cheap . . . and actually would last OK, but they were pretty darned ugly and depending on the stove may not offer adequate R value protection. For ember-only hearths they would work, but honestly I would spend a little more money and build my own hearth which would be better built and much, much better looking.

In all honesty, I’m looking for something simple that I can use for my new pellet stove to be installed. I will probably take the trip to nearest stove store to see what they have available that is not outrageous expensive. In the space it’s going, something really simple will suffice unless it’s downright ugly. Just don’t want the thing to break if I step on it here and there.

It's cheap but should be ok if on a level surface. They make them in black in various sizes. This is type 1 stove board. Make sure that it meets the stove spec.

Some of them are type 2. Rated for R 1.5. My stove required R .13 or higher so many times adequate. Steel skin over micore. UL/ULC listed. Completely safe.

Yes, you're right. Imperial sells both Type 1 and Type 2.

Safety and appearance are two separate things. They are cheap, yes. Dent easy? Yes. Scuff easy? Yes. Save $300 bucks? Yes.
