Hi! So we ended up with a Fisher fireplace insert recently, and now we are in a rut as to how to install it safely and correctly in our fireplace hole.

As far as I was able to find out, it seems to be be missing the damper. Will I need that or is it an optional thing?

In the existing fireplace, there is a chimney liner that is doublelined and is 4 inches diameter on the inside and 5 to the outside part. (Pictures are included) I've think I've figure out from other posts that legally I need at least a 7 inch liner? Is this correct? What size liner do I need and where do you purchase those?

Then I believe the final inquiry (until I get stuck on more) is how do I connect the fireplace to the liner? Do I need a boot of some sort? Is there a way to directly connect?

Any help would be so so appreciated, thank you all so much!

That liner was not meant for wood burning. This setup and chimney needs to be gone over to see if you even have the ability to put in a liner to accommodate that stove.

What is the chimney like between what is seen, and the sky?

Yes you need 7" minimum. It needs to be insulated and you should be able to put an 8" appliance adapter right into that collar. The insert should have a damper there that you would need to notch that adapter around but it seems to be missing.

It almost looks like they used a pellet stove insert in that chimney...
