Hello Everyone!

What a wonderful community you have here. I discovered my interest in wood heat not long after my wife and I purchased our 1st home last summer. The fireplace had an insert, which I initially wanted removed. I am sure glad I let my wife persuade me to try it for the winter!

I have tried to do some investigation on this stove, but with no luck. I cant imagine it being anything special, but for now it is what we have. I am hoping someone is able to give me any information on it.

However, that is not the reason I created an account, and made this thread. The stove's door has I believe to mica glass in it, but an extremely large piece. before I had taken the door apart, I assumed there were several smaller pieces that could be replaced individually. The glass is falling apart, and if it was not for the multiple layers, there would be a hole in the door.

Replacing this with a piece of mica glass of this size would be very costly I imagine, and I was curious if anyone had any suggestions. Could I put a piece of glass in the door instead of the mica? Is this some other material altogether?

I really appreciate any clarity anyone is able to bring.

Thank you

First off is that stove hooked to a liner or just slid into the firebox?

Just slid in I think! The person who inspected it when we moved in said we would have to put a liner and the whole nine yards if we were to replace it. I figure another year or 2 of bringing it up before the Mrs. caves in and we go shopping.

You also need a liner and the whole nine yards to safely use this insert. If it is just slid in it is not safe to use.

With the warping and orange staining on the glass I wonder if the previous owner was burning coal in there.....I'd try to contact them and find out.

Thank you so much for this. I will reach out to the gentleman who inspected it, and press him why he gave the OK in its current state.

The previous seal when I took the door apart was an orange color as well. I assumed that was just it's color, which leeched on to this material.
