The convection blower on our Napoleon stove turns on and off while the stove is running, even though the blower dial is set to 3 or 4. It will stay off for several minutes, and then will come on for several minutes. We have thoroughly cleaned EVERYTHING, and it has a new ignition switch, ignitor, 160 degree switch, and convection motor blower (which is not OEM). From looking at the wiring diagram, we can’t figure out why this is happening. Any ideas?

Does the new convection blower motor parameters match the old motor? Sounds to my like its hitting the internal thermal safety and shuts down.and when it cools down it comes back on. If the motor Is not speed control capable it will do that.

Interesting. That makes the most sense, because there’s no other reason I can figure for it shutting down except the motor’s internal controls. Thanks for confirming this!! My husband brought our old one to a guy that supposedly specializes in small motors, so I would have though he knew that we needed one that was variable speed, but...
I guess we now need to decide if we should go back and harass him, and/or get a new one from someone else. Sometimes saving money gets expensive, ha ha!

It very well might be the variable speed switch (if you have one on your controls), I have a Napoleon NPI45 that came with my house when I purchased it and was never maintained properly. After I started using it as my main heating source in 2012, each year for the first 5 years I had to replace something due to the neglect of the previous owner. I've replaced almost every part, and had issues with the speed switch in the past. So if the motor checked out okay, I would look into that.

It turns out it was the blower motor. The replacement wasn’t of the same specs as the original, and the little difference caused the problem. So he replaced it, no additional charge, and it’s been working like a champ ever since! Thanks, Ssyko!

Nice! glad everything is working good now. keep it warm;)
