Has anyone put a piece of steel in place of the board? $85 and I have half the winter on it and it broke in half already. Not going that route again.

A friend used a steel plate, just curious what others do. Wonder how think that stainless would be? I have a bunch of ceramic blanket but not sure how I'd go about using it.
How does it get broken? I am being honest most quad users i work for get at minimum 5 years out of one.
And there lies my question. I'm pretty on top of things like this, especially for $85. Stove have been over fired either. I filed for a warranty replacement.
Its gotta be something about heat and a camera...beats me. Also, if it was bent, it would be broke at the bend.
That will tell true enough, but either way, that wouldnt have anything to do on why this thing snapped in half the whole length.
If the tube is sagging then the board is not supported in that location. Whether that is related or the cause of the crack IDK. Seems like it could be a contributing factor. With the insulation blanket on top of the baffle board the crack shouldn't have a big effect on performance. Is there a weight on top of the insulation blanket?
This model has no blanket. The board is laying flat across all tubes, so its fully supported. Theres no weight on it so support shouldnt be an issue. If it wasnt laying flat on the tube, it would crack between the 2 tubes too. Its clearly not an issue of weight/support. More like a poor job of compressing the ceramic board.
Oh, you're right. I thought this was a new stove not an old ACT model. It's had a blanket since 2007(?). Weirdly, though the ACT manual doesn't show it on the parts list, the 2004 ACT manual mentions it in figure 20B.

My parts manual is 2002-2007, no mention of a blanket in it, interesting. Mine has 3 tubes as well, that looks like it has 2, which I have seen before.
