I have never seen one before but i like it. The form looks like a coal parlor stove. Where is the air inake? Does it have shaker grates?
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking coal also. No shaker grate and believe air intake occurs when opening firebox door. It has a second slotted door inside chromed outer door. It’s been used as a decorative piece for many years.
Is that a big square hole in the back of the stove? If so it was probably a coal stoker stove but it is missing the mechanism.
Actually it seems to be an oven like pass through, front to back. I assumed it was for baking bread, etc.
What does the part that looks like a T handle in the upper portion do? Mid oven type heaters were also called bun bakers, but wouldn't have any linkage or handles inside. Does the front upper door have a means for glass (or isinglass) and does the rear opening have signs of door hinges or something that mounted to it? Upper door looks like a loading door with a cover over burn pot inside? If no glass, that would be the main heat vent and the rear one would be a heat vent with no fancy cover in the rear.
Any sign of an inner burn chamber like a cast iron burn pot, could be little studs like pins a grate or shaker system sat on.
Does the bottom door latch knob rotate to adjust the slight opening for air to enter around that door? The lower door would probably be an ash removal area. Looking inside and up should show signs of a grate support and firebox (or burn pot) condition. Need lots of pics of the inside. I'd like to check this one out on the inside with a flashlight.

I can tell you the word "Ideal" on stoves came from the Gem City Stove Co. meaning "German Heater". During the mid 19 teens, when anti-German sentiment was high in the country, stove companies associated with anything German used the word Ideal and use of it became popular.
The A M has me puzzled. Many used initials, or American Machine........... But that's where the word Ideal originated in the stove industry.
Virginia is really nice in the spring, are you thinking of selling it?
