So currently I have a fireplace with glass doors. I am looking for an insert with a blower and with similar large glass doors because I will mostly have the fire open and then close the doors overnight. Also important is as large an interior as possible, because I like to throw in large logs that are not easily split. Thanks.

What makes you say you want an insert? If you want to burn with the doors open and insert would be of no benefit to you.
Well the blower would provide some extra heat output and as I mentioned, the doors would be closed at the end of the evening and it would continue to provide heat through the night.

Stoves insert or free standing are to use with the door close all the time. A door open will cause over firing condition and you don't want that to happen. Plus you will need to run a liner for proper draft. @bholler can guide you in the right direction to the steps to take but for sure an open door is not a choice.
Is the current setup a full masonry fireplace or a Zero Clearance manufactured fireplace with a metal chimney?
Full masonry. I have seen inserts operated like this - they burn as normal fireplaces but have a cavity round the back and or sides that is blown. Anyone have a make/model or anyone here running their insert this way - would like to hear from you.
Most modern inserts are designed to be run with the doors closed to minimize emissions and optimize heating. You may be thinking of a fireplace booster like a Cozy Grate, or a fireplace heater like a Templar or Stronghold. These are not going to improve burning efficiency but will do what you want. Thanks Begreen, that is more of the thing I am looking for. The exact model I saw before was an HB42AI, the manual for which suggested running with the doors open for full effect. I think I should have used the phrase Fireplace with a Heater and not insert.
