Same as last time--three zone pricing and we are in the most expensive "zone" with the "Sale" price of $899. which if you live points west is the regular price. I would have to drive to Ohio to get the $699 price!
My lovely wife tweeted about the differential pricing and got back a pretty mealy-mouthed response that seems to suggest that they will price match--so I am going to try tomorrow--and if it works, I will share the phone number that they tweeted back to my wife in reply.
I find this sort of thing really annoying--I'm pretty sure they ship in through New Jersey, so assuming that freight is a chunk of change, it seems to be a 'charge what the market will bear'--and my personal theory is that the price is higher where they are not competing with Menards.

This is just the regular customer service number, nothing special and with no choice that appears to deal with this sort of pricing issue. I banged around until I found a live human.
Short version--the Customer Disservice rep has to call the local store while you are on the phone, and it is up to the Store Manager whether or not they will honor the lower price(!)
She made a mistake by first asking him to match the $799 sale price despite me being very clear that I was looking at a $699 price. The store agreed to match the first price--so $799.
On the second call, they would not agree to match the $699 price.
Despite making noise that there was a price match "policy"--it is completely at the discretion of the individual store manager.
I'm going to Home Depot for the Champion just because I will not support a company that runs this kind of pricing policy.

You'll pretty much want to stop shopping online then.
A lot of online retailers change their price based off of zip code the buyer is coming from ( more affluent zip code = higher price ), and I believe time of the purchase. I know Amazon does this for sure. I've gotten two difference prices for items at work and at home. Best Buy got busted a number of years ago for advertising items online cheaper than what they were at the store.
I hate the idea of companies snooping on me so I turn off any voice, and location features on my phone, and in my web browser.

This is what I use. Location is off, and if using a browser that doesn't track, funny how the adds disappear. I do have adds showing up, from a year ago, when I last used a tracking browser.

Every storefront retailer that I dealt with has always honored the internet price. TSC has honored neighboring stores within my adjacent counties.
I guess the locations with substantially lower prices are farther away than what most would consider reasonable.

The issue is not with ordering online, the issue is regional pricing in the physical stores--and no actual price match policy.
Three regions, three different sale prices. I could order it from one of the other regions, but I would pay long distance freight to my door (still cheaper than our region's sale price if you can believe it). There is no way to beat their web site, since the online order IS basically 'Ship to store'--and unless you want to pay long distance freight, and where your local store is determines the price you get. No other way to check out. Set the store, pay the money.
The issue is not the settings in my browser, it is their pricing policy. And the "price match" is at the discretion of the Store Manager--that is not "policy"--that is discretion. And why would he take the hit on his store's performance metrics to cut the price to me?
Meanwhile, we all compare prices online for big ticket items--it is a national market--unless you are Tractor Supply.
Home Depot currently has the Champion selling at $995--same price regardless of location. They have that crazy Kinetic 10T on sale for $499--same price regardless of location. Current sales on Milwaukee tools--same sale price, same flyer, regardless of where you are in the country. On Garage Journal, people post good deals at Lowes or Home Depot all the time, and so long as your region has the stuff, then the sale price will be the same (unless your region has not started a clearance price, or they don't stock something because the supplier has limited distribution in your area).
The outlier here is Harbor Freight--a hard coded regional pricing system--because they can gouge in "more affluent areas".
Well I am not affluent, and I will no longer shop at their stores.

You need to scratch Home Depot off your list. When I bought my Englander wood stove they would not match a price listed in their flyer from back east that a Hearth member posted.
