Hey guys, I am new here and looking for the consideration of your expertise! I am currently in the process of breaking ground and building a house this upcoming spring. It will be a one floor range approx. 2300 sq ft. It will have a second bonus in law suite on the second floor. In addition to that it will be 2x6 exterior walls with closed cell spray foam for insulation. It will be an open floor plan and I am currently trying to decide which fireplace will best suit my needs (Given how the house is designed I will need a zero clearance fireplace).

So my question is I have spoken with two separate dealers, one that is a HeatnGlo, the other which is a Quadrafire dealer. When speaking with the HeatnGlo dealer, they state that the Northstar will have no problem heating the space and size home I have stated above. I know the website says up to 2500 square feet. I am uncertain as to how true this claim is, or if the dealer is trying to upsell me on it just to make a sale. My intent is that I wanted to go with the 7100. It is a decent size open space with 9+ foot ceilings. The Quadrafire dealer says the 7100 will have no problem heating my home with a 7100 and then some (plan to use it in conjunction with HVAC). All things considered, the prices are within marginal difference so my thought it to have "more headroom" so to speak, and go with the bigger stove. But my concern is that, will the 7100 be too much and make living uncomfortably hot when its running full steam.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated on the matter as I am trying to figure this out before moving forward with contractors etc.

-Edit-

I posted a pic of the floor plan and layout that I will have.

Thanks in advance, Matt.

Will the fireplace have the auxiliary convection air distribution system sending heat to the other rooms? If so it should be fine.

But my concern is that, will the 7100 be too much and make living uncomfortably hot when its running full steam.
If that is the concern, then don't run it at full steam unless temps are very low outside. The operator controls the amount of wood placed in the firebox and the amount of air the fire receives.

Well, if you can get a 7100 I would jump on it. Quadrafire discontinued that model for 2020. I was speaking with our Quadrafire sales person when I was shopping for an insert, and he uses the 7100 to heat is 3500 sq ft house. He says that he loves it and feels that it is superior to the new products because of its depth. I've never burned with one, so my advice is second-hand.

The 7100 is a fireplace, even though marketing sometimes mistakenly calls it an insert.

I am learning that the hard way. The one dealer I was talking to that sells the Northstar stated that it is currently going through the process of being certified with 2020 EPA regulations, I have been unable to find this out about the 7100 ; even from Quadrafire.

One of the other dealers in the area also sells Ventis, they recommended the HE350 for the size of the house. Any opinions or anyone have experiences with those as I was told by the dealer that they currently meet 2020 EPA emissions and are going through the certification process as well. Thanks in advance.
