I loaded the stove at 4am and checked it just minutes before 8pm this evening. This is a photograph of the coals. The stove top temperature was 284*F. The glass has never been cleaned yet.
I have the smaller version(2000) for several yrs and i am generally happy with it. Heats up fast ,burns clean and keeps the door glass very clean. Seems to reburn nicely as well .

That's impressive. Was this oak?

I have an update on trying to return my slightly warped(top) CH 3000. US stove is now saying they wont swap it out because it needs to be cracked, not just warped. They said the structural integrity of the stove is not compromised and there is no effect on internal workings. Not sure im happy w their decision tho I don't disagree on their rational for not taking it back.

Wow, englander just claims they dont believe you when you have problems.

Here's a picture of the warp. Do ya think I deserve a new stove?

I'm sorry you are having a bad experience. Do you have a photo of this condition COLD & HOT?
[Edit- We have EXTREMELY slow internet. I did not see your photo until now. Do you have a similar photo from a few feet away?]

You need to press them. Let them know you wouldn't have purchased the stove warped, nor would you have purchased it if you knew it would warp. It is a cosmetic defect that they need to own up to.

Ask them if they would be okay with color coat of paint peeling off a car they just purchased? No structural problem and integrity of the vehicle has not been compromised. I don't think so.

The warranty should cover manufacturing defects.

Your picture makes me nervous when I see it. Mmm.
I checked last night at full temperature and mine has a same similar non-flat surface. I was hoping things would be different when the stove was cool this morning. Unfortunately, I/we have never noticed this condition until now., The humped surface seems to follow the flame/heat pattern, and slightly discolored paint.

It would be nice to know if an unburnt unit is flat.
The thickness of the top plate was one reason we purchased it. I seem to remember one other brand with thinner steel, the user posted a photo of a [Edit-concave] top surface.
[My surface appears symmetrical to the flame patter. 1/8" out at the vent connector and 3/16" in the center toward the throat].
Good find. This is something I will monitor.

Thanks for your response. I can't swear that the warp hasn't been there all along because it's just subtle enough that most wouldn't notice. It is thicker than normal stove steel, 5/16s while many are 1/4 or less. The welds look good. The stove never returns to normal. It gets slightly worse under full heat, grows from 1/2 inch to about 3/4 " going full bore. It's a long span of steel with alot of differential expansion I assume, Have you laid a flat edge on it and measured the bulge? I d be curious to hear. Thanks!

Yes, I put a straight edge on it. Like yours, if my edge is not level and rests on one edge the distance continues to get greater and greater. If I hold the edge level the measurements are approximately 1/8 close to the outlet and [Edit: correction at/under 3.35mm] at the center and towards the door.
My bulge appears symmetrical and centered, so I placed the edge in the center and observed the distances at the outer edges.

Ok so mine is slightly higher . But symetrical like ur s, maybe a little closer to front of stove but def in middle.

I just checked using the closest shims I have.
My initial measurement was wrong due to hand movement and observation.
My ***corrected*** measurement is at/under 3.35mm, just over 1/8 as the edge does not quite touch the stovetop. I'm sorry if I added any confusion.

Performed a cleaning and inspection. With about three cords burnt in 2018/2019 this is how much creosote the stove produced from mostly oak wood. I say mostly because there may be some other dead standing in the mix. This past year did not seem as cold but we were still burning a slow steady fire. This amount also includes the fine ash above the baffles.

1/22/23: As always, we're very critical of any combustion device within the home, and yet we're still happy with the purchase and operation of the stove. We are so happy with the stove that we looked for a used unit to keep for a replacement should we ever need it, but there are none to be found. We're still feeling the cozy burn.
