Folks, Just moved into a house with a nice Defiant that needed all new gaskets all around. After careful inspection the stove looks in very good condition. All of the gaskets have gone well with the exception of the damper gasket. It is a 5/16" rope that is in a difficult area to clean as well as install. Does anyone have this model stove that has some tips for installation? I had one failed attempt where the glue would not hold the rope in place long enough to get the damper to close so it could set. I don't know how anyone can get there hands in there for a cleaning and install...a bit frustrating. Tipping the stove on it's side would help with holding the rope in place, but not a very good solution due to the weight ect....Thank you!
