Harman P68 burnpot replacement question

Planning on doing my first burnpot replacement on my Harman P68 due to a breach in the metal by some of the air holes that’s causing it to split open but have a couple questions before I start in on it...any advice, as always, is greatly appreciated..

1) obviously the igniter and igniter cradle will have to be removed from the old burnpot, but is there a way to remove the burnpot and subsequently have the igniter and cradle be removed from the rear of the burnpot instead of the front or is the circular opening at the rear too small? I’m not trying to cut corners but I’m just wondering if that is an option.

2) the burnpot has been in there for 3 years. I ordered a gasket along with the burnpot to replace that as well while it’s out. The removal looks to be straightforward but I don’t want to assume that (usually after saying something like that the work time doubles from what I originally figured). Should I be aware of any obstacles other than the removal of the pot from the mounting bolts and the subsequent installation of the new pot onto the bolts?

One of the biggest drawbacks is the removal & re-installation of the nuts holding the burn pot in place. The one on your lower left will require a 1/4" drive socket set up with a short extension & a universal joint & a lot of bad words.

Lol..thanks..I have all of those (including the bad words)...how about the igniter and cradle..would you know If I can remove it out the back once the burnpot is unresucured?

Edit my last response..I just got the new burnpot and looked at the back of it..I see now that the igniter can only come out the front.

Pull the rear shrouds & locate the igniter wires. If you are still using the OEM Igniter, there are probably Zip Ties holding the wiring in place. Snip those Zip Ties & pull the igniter wires thru to the front so you can access the spade connectors & unhook them. When you re-install the igniter, plug the spades together & pull the igniter wires thru to the back, so that only a minimal amount of wire is in the Igniter cavity...

Thanks, guys...replaced the burnpot and gasket this morning..the 1/4" universal joint and the extension bar on the joint made a world of difference in removal. Only minor issue was that one of the disconnects was very difficult to get off. I noticed a little exposed insulation on the tail of the one disconnect after i pulled it out so i pushed it back into the tail. The dealer had replaced the igniter a couple years ago so it wasn't the original. Went straightforward.. thanks for your help
