New guy here. I use to burn wood religiously but moved. I sold my chainsaw shortly after moving. A room in my basement was going to be a man cave but I decided to make it into a workshop. There is a fire place in that room so I'll be putting in a small wood stove. So I have bought myself a new chainsaw. I now have a Husqvarna 545 mk-2. I used to have a stihl 271 that was ported. So far even though specs say the 271 with being ported should've had more power, I dont believe that to be the case. Has anyone else used one and thought they're stout little saws?

They are nice saws but my little 421 dolmar will out cut it. That's even before I switches to the .325 chain. My cousin has the 271 stihl and we did a lot of cutting side by side and my uncles house a few years ago when they got hit by the tornado.
Never said it would out cut the 545. It will give my 550xp a hard way to go. My dolmar 421 now is set up with a .325 chain. My 550xp is set with a 3/8 chain.
You said in your first post that you thought that your old stihl 271 was lacking. I was just agreeing with you. My dad has a stihl 029 super . While it is and has been a great saw, my little dolmar will run with it. I got away from stihls. In my opinion they are harder to start. I had a 441 which cut awesome, always took 6 to 8 pulls to start since new. My father in law had the new stihl ms462 until he ran over it with the skidder. I did like that saw a lot and very seriously about getting one.
Ok, gotcha. I really think auto tune saws are the way of the future.
Yes and no. There is a few things I don't like about them. The compensate for an air leak. Have to take to a dealer to diagnose problems with it. More complex than a standard carburetor. It is nice that they tune them selves to run dang near perfect.
Yes. This is my first auto tune saw but I hope to be its only mechanic once the warranty runs out.
