Huh...no kidding...I thought you were Jetstream for life! ;lol

If I was in the market again this boiler would be on my very short list. It was in fact on my last list until I bought my current boiler used at a nice discount.

I'm into my second winter with a Vedolux Lambda 350 and it's working perfectly. You can read about my boiler project at

I largely burn Douglas Fir and hemlock split a seasoned 2 years under cover before burning. I'm hoping to batch burn one load to bring my 1245 gallon storage tank to temperature 145/185 F , do you think your 350 could do it or should I stick to the 450?
I live on Northern Vancouver Island in Port McNeill .

A full load Douglas Fir / Ponderosa Pine mix increases the temperature of the my 500 gallons of stored water around 50 to 55°F. For 1245 gallons that would be a temperature increase of 21°F. The volume of the firebox in the 450 is 41% larger than the 350 which means that the 450 would produce a 30°F increase in water temperature of 1245 gallons with each burn. For the tank volume you have the 450 or the 650 would be a better match.

Thanks for your hands-on-advice. Hands on experience is invaluable. I will go with the 450.
No room for the 650. The 450 will sit nicely where the Jetstream sits.

Why are you changing boilers?

The Jetstream is still a good boiler and is likely more efficient than the Lambda unit that I have bought. The Jetstream has two short comings for me. It has a relatively small fire box so it has to be feed every hour or hour and a half for six to seven hours of a batch burn all be it every second or third day. The second short coming is the factor of its pressurized firebox and the fine pumice that seems to be spread throughout the house even though the boiler is in a concrete room separated from the rest of the house.

The bolts that make the feet for the boiler are they set in a inch or so from the outside fairing if they are I don't have to make any adjustments to my dolly . The dolly is 23 9/16" between the angle iron rails .

I have a bit of a hill to travel to get the Vedolux to the basement.

Good choice.I installed an older Vedolux 37 that I bought on kijji a ago.The Vedolux was never used and my Jetstream was 22 years old and on the second refactory. The Vedolux heats up much faster and puts out more btus.I am finding it easier to use.

I am amazed you found a Vedo on Kijiji. Given your location. Amazed and astounded actually. Wow.

I went 1 1/2 seasons with a Blaze King Princess in my basement and it didn't work out. When you had a gasification furnace all else doesn't cut it.I looked on kijji over a few weeks and 2 used Vedoluxs showed up in Ontario but looked well used.,I checked Manitoba next and there it was a Vedolux 37 never used sitting in a corner of a shop near Winnipeg. Dean at Smokless Heat said he sold it about 7-8 years ago.The loading pump and stand also came with it.There was a small issue with the fan motor not turning,I adjusted the finns and it is working fine now.The price worked out to be very reasonable.Burning wood is so much easier now.If you are in the Port Hood area stop by and check my system out.My ph.902-631-0862

I am on the other end of the province, half hour from NB border. Love my Vedo setup, wish there had been one to check out in 2012 when I did mine. I was totally on my own then. Well, I had this place - that was a huge help. Maybe I got lucky in that mostly everything ended up working great. I think you are the only other gasser user I am aware of in the province, let alone another Vedo person.

Sorry for the thread derail, I'll stop there.

The Boiler arrived.

We used the winch on the woodsplitter and lowered the boiler down the hill on a pallet jack. My wife operated the winch and I steered the pallet jack.

The steep part of the hill.

Made it down the hill.

This is the hand winch we used to pull the boiler up a small rise and into the basement.

Got within 4 feet of the patio door and had to take the pallet jack out and put it back under from the other end.

Smokeless Heat did a real good job of crating the boiler but we got it off.
