Belt keeps popping off! I tried a new belt but only helped a little and this year the new belt would not stay on at all!
The same 42” snowblower attachment is made for Sears by MTD for the last 20 years!
2 new bushings on each side of the tines. One new bearing on the large pulley and 2 new small pulleys. Also new skids and shear pins plus a little more grease in the gear box. $425 including labor.
Works like new now!
The new seat with arm rest and the steel Diamond plate I cut and welded on to replace the rubber foot pads are holding up pretty well. See pics

Got me. It's really a rebadged MTD (More Tools Desired) so anything is possible. You might want to call MTD and talk to them. You can get the service help number from the Cub Cadet website. Cub is MTD as well.

Thanks for the info. It really needed all that after 17 years and it is in great shape now

Hello
In my case the belt as jumping off near the snow blower end. Now if the belt as jumping off the large pulley in the clutch pack there is another not only fix but modification to make it even better! Believe it or not, This fix envolves 2 locking bearings, the block bearings part # UCF204-12 used for the 2 augers in the Englander 25-PDV or 25-PDVC wood pellet stoves! Amazing!

I think mtd makes most of the snowblowers sold now.
Yes, it sure looks like it! Now we know how to fix the tractor attachments! These two fixes are great!

Just this past fall, the Timing gear let go on the Tractor and it costs about $550 to fix.
So I got $975 in to it to fix it up but if I purchase all new 42” craftsman tractor, bagger and MTD snowblower attachment at Lowe’s which they still make, would be approx $3300.00 so hopefully this was a good investment?

Hello
The street plows just went by.
So I just tested the blower attachment with a couple inches of very heavy wet snow that would make the belt jump right off if there was even a slight problem!
This time it worked flawlessly. :)

Hello
After getting the blower fixed by replacing all the bearings AND the belt, it needs some protection with some paint!
After wire wheeling and cleaning with acetone, I used VHT flat black from the auto supply for the primer. Then I used Stove Bright Satin Black for the finish coat!

The last step was to apply the Next Gen with the micro fiber cloth to keep it from rusting & peeling after a day or so to let the paint dry. I wanted to try the Next Gen last winter but certainly not to a rusty old blower!
This Next Gen also keeps the snow from sticking, so we will see how that works next season.
:)

Didn't mean that as an insult Don. Around here we refer to farmers that are selling used equipment as 5 gallon finishers. I've seen used, for sale equipment, usually tractors, where the seller never even washed off the old grease and just painted everything and then asks a premium price...lol

Loos good btw.

Oh no problem
After spending $425 to replace the bearings to get a new belt from jumping off, which I think was well worth the money and it works like new, it just did not look the part! The rust was only surface rust but better catch it now before it gets worse. I used Satin Black instead of the the original High gloss black because I use the high temp Satin black for painting the pellet stoves which I think is better paint. This time I hope by coating it with the Next Gen it may keep the snow from sticking and also keep it from rusting more too!
Also took it off today to paint the back side and just have it sit and the paint harden all summer for next year. :)
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them :)

Does it have skid shoes on the bottom or a wear edge? I have skid shoes on my Lucknow which is a rear mount PTO drive 84". Have skid shoes on the front 10 foot wide power angle plow too. Saves the bottom of both. Little bit bigger machine...

Oh Yes thanks
I had new skid shoes put on each side when I had the bearings replaced last fall. :)
