I bet next year this forum will be extremely busy....

Probably in all segments. With energy costs climbing (not just motor fuel but propane and NG), more folks will be purchasing solid fuel appliances (stoves and furnaces) so there will be more and more questions to be answered and more and more people will be under the false impression that because the drummer says they are 'plug and play', they assume (wrongly) they are, so the questions will abound and per usual, not many will bother to read the owners / operations manuals either.

Will be an interesting year, I'm sure. Looking forward to it..... :p

Some of us have seen it before and sometimes feel overwhelming when
you repeat yourself over and over again
Do you have a manual
Have you read page such and such
Have you done a complete cleaning of your stove
Then again maybe it's an age thing
Everbody have a good summer

I wouldn't be surprised if some states outlaw wood stoves in the future and maybe eventually pellet stoves too.

not sure if allowed mentioning but Facebook has 3 different pellet stove groups including a harman group.
u would not believe some of the questions posted... clearly many should NOT own a pellet stove and rating pellets is a joke.
"these are awsome!! best pellets around"... " cool..how long have u had a P stove? " this is my 1st year".. BOING!!!!!

I'm hoping pellet prices don't climb as well. Increased fuel costs, inflation, and demand will be factors and who knows, maybe supply could be an issue as well.

They did here but that’s always the case this time of year when there’s only so much stock and freezing cold nights linger on sometimes for months. I paid $235 last summer now it’s $280 and most of the pallets have shredded wrapping. They might not even sell tons right now anyway. No thanks I’ll wait till summer when they get a huge new stock and they’re fresh and dry. Even the store said last year “why don’t you wait a month when they’re on sale?”. I said I was having surgery in a month and I wanted the pellets done. I would have only saved like $5 a ton anyway had I been able to do it. They don’t have the big sales like they used to.

Well, I'm talking about baseline prices. I've wondered if pellet makers slow production at all throughout the year. I'll have to call the nearby plant and see what they are up to.

I can easily think of half a dozen or more things a lot of clueless people should be kept from owning or activities they should not engage in as they don't bother informing themselves in order to responsibly own or participate. So many gullible people with no critical thinking skills. But watcha gonna do?

yes... we are on call 24/7 for the the 1st time Millenuall pellet stove owners..
The older I get the less tolerant I am of 'Millenuals'....lol It's Millenial btw. 2 of my tenants are millenials and sometimes I'm amazed they can actually breathe on their own....lol What I consider to be ordinary things are life threatening for them.

If people bothered to use the search feature on here and read the sticky's at the top, most of their 'issues would be answered.

I always look forward to the fall when this site gets busier, hoping to restore a few stoves this summer....then helping people out next winter
Just bought a second hand 6039 that was run hard and put away wet. It's fixable and I got it for a good price. The 4 button board checked out good (big expense) and the firebox isn't screwed up but the rest of it it pretty tough looking. He started at 600 and finished at 3 once he realized I know what I'm looking at (especially when I took my Fluke along and tested the board. It will need new bearings in the combustion fan and a new fan wheel and the convection fan rebuilt as well as a complete cleanout and a repaint but it is intact and considering what they are selling for, I should clear about 500 for my time. Heck, I may rebuild it and exchange it for mine and sell mine. I'll be on the cruise for used and abused biomass stoves this year, cold be a good (profitable hobby) to get into. Burn pots is good too that is also a major expense in a 6039. It's filthy, which is typical and I heard (and ignored) the usual lie about how good it ran. One look at it and I knew it was a bomb because he never cleaned it or was just too lazy. No venting, didn't want any. Probably loaded with soot anyway.

If they are maintained, the do run good, they all do actually, but get sloppy and lazy and they all go to hell in a handbasket. All of them have to be maintained weekly.

Far as chunk woodstoves go, I can see the outside chunk wood burners getting outlawed. Everyone I see is a smoky polluting mess. Surprised they don't burn up from creosote buildup. The catalyized wood stoves seem to work pretty well however, least from what I see around here. One thing about pellet / biomass corm stoves and that is they are extremely low on particulate emissions and visible smoke and those 2 items are what the EPA frowns on. If you can smell it but not see it, all good. If you can smell and see it, not good.

Pellet Stoves will be hit by Tax on Carbon Emissions. Make pellets more expensive in the future. They won't take into account burning waste sawdust. Hopefully not soon

I thought in the US biomass was considered carbon neutral? Which would therefore make wood and wood pellets carbon tax exempt.

It is.....

Think Politics not Common Sense
With the current administration, I prefer not to think about them at all or as little as possible.

As usual, my TSC has a huge stack of skidded pellets out back. I will say they are all Michigan Hardwood and stretched wrapped and shrouded and stacked neatly. I can see this summer, I'll be negotiating with the store manager on a couple skids. Like my 200 buck price. I don't need any, in fact I have 2 and 1/2 skids in the barn already and I pulled the shrouds on what I have and added stretch wrap before I stacked them up, same with the left over corn, stretch wrapped it and added a left over shroud and stretch wrapped that as well. Have about 2 ton of corn left, not counting the 500 bushel in the grain tank but I feed that out to the cattle so I don't really look at that as stove corn. That will get used up over the summer.

Kind pf jumped the gun on shutting down the stove as it's cool here and the central furnace is running (propane). No big deal. I do have to support my propane dealer as I hunt with the owner. It got cleaned out carefully, new convection blower, pulled the combustion blower, cleaned the fan blades, vacuumed out the plenum and the short horizontal run to the 3-4 cleanout Tee. I still need to take down the outside venting and pressure wash it inside and put it back up. Ran 5 bags of straight pellets in the stove to get rid of the nitric vapor and I fogged the inside with Stabil fogging oil so it don't rust over the summer. Want to be ready to go next fall with no startup issues and yes, it's umplugged and the remote T'stat is disconnected. That cost me a board some years ago. Had an electrical storm over the summer and it's a pretty long run from the T'stat to thre stove and the wire picked up some of the electricity from the lightening and fried the board, so now I disconnect it over the summer. Was an expensive lesson.... (300 bucks, the 6039 has 2 expensive components, the control board and the burn pot.

My biggest complaint is that the manual doesn't give you enough information. I read the thing, but it doesn't tell you how to do all the maintenance. They expect you to hire someone.

Just like our Toyota minivan. I had to look up a YouTube video on how to change the oil (it's not as simple as pulling the filter off), because that information wasn't in the book!

I would imagine you have to remove the drain plug as well....lol

There's that! And also you have to remove the magnet off the bottom of the filter housing and clean that off, then remember to put it back. It also takes 6.4 quarts of 0W 20!

Modern engines all take light viscosity oil because of the variable valve timing and lightweight oil yields better fuel mileage. Modern oils all all good, not like oils of 15 years ago.

Just about time for me to stop visiting the forum for the year..LOL... been a good year 3rd or 4th year with the stove and its ran perfectly all year and all i had to put into it this year was the burn pot.. May go through a few more bags and that will be it for the year

Next year busy--I think this year will be busy because of the political situations and the sicknesses people are getting weary and insecure feelings with all this spending of money that we do not have as well as making their lives secure for their selves and their love ones. I sure don't blame them for I am trying to make my life more secure as well...Busy this year and next year busier I say...Yes...clancey

Must come with age.... I never spend money I don't have, I don't like credit and don't like payments either. My wife calls me cheap, I call myself thrifty.
