We are into it pretty heavy trying to get all walls up ready for the electrician who is coming tomorrow. It will have three windows and two doors--one 36 inch and the second one 30 inch and the flooring is finished (concrete). There will be outside outlet, an overhead light and switch and two outlets one for the blower and another for a air-conditioner in a window as well as the outside spotlight repaired. Two walls will be cement board and the installer will actually install the stove on May 5th so its moving along..I cancelled out the concrete path when they did the concrete and will have river rock there in place for now and that will be delivered on Friday with two men (I hope) to spread it. I am keeping all wood for my new stove which they moved in underneath the porch for protection from the weather. Today late we will have heavy rain freezing weather and snow so we are at this working hard.. Just wanted to update you all...clancey

You seem to be the only one who cares about this project---thank you for that ---for at this time I really need some Kudos...Tomorrow is taping and trimming out to seal things and the corner will be left for now so that the installer can do the stove on the fifth..Beautiful day today --thank goodness and a nice day tomorrow.. A dump truck will be here tomorrow to fill in river rock because I cancelled the concrete path so it needs something other than mud..when it rains...Its hard finding people to spread this rock but I got one so we will see how he does..Its all wrap outside in the black paper moisture barrier and now covered with tsp--I hope I got that right..lol..Its well insulated too. I am going to get rock up on the corner so that will be cement board...Buts that's next year for the rock but the cement board will fill in for now...Tomorrow another full day--I am the clean up person and water and food bearer for I need light things to do for I cannot do too much heavy stuff. But I am doing what I can especially in setting up everything... I sit out there at nighttime and have my coffee and its coming around...No painting or rocks for now--just sealing it up and the stove hooked up---then the wood---this is a trip...clancey

Clancey, others of us care, too. There are a lot more views on the thread than replies. I know that I read a lot more often than I post. I appreciate it when people update threads they start, and I especially love the pictures you’re posting. Thank you.

Yea its a real long thread and can get real complicated real soon if your not up to date with all the changes that has happened.. Thanks and so glad you like the pictures--trying to just keep it going.. People are so busy with their lives especially in the nicer weather they just don't have time...I can understand that...Thanks once again...clancey..

I am paying attention, I generally have nothing to add though. Looks like you got some good contractors to help you out with this project. Despite not replying often I do appreciate seeing your updates.

oh yeah, we're all out here, Mrs. Clancey, celebrating the work you're doing/having done... certainly anticipating the arrival and installation of the wood stove.

Yeah, I really want to see this thing with removable cooking eyes and such high efficiency.

Yea its going to have removable cooking eyes and be the "most efficient" as well---lol lol...Thanks for the support as well for I needed that and was feeling a bit lonely out here by myself " prancing everyone around ". Today I have a bunch of "river rock" coming and the truck cannot dump in the yard so it is going to have to be in the driveway out front and I sure hope it does not hurt the driveway..Then there is the question of all this "left over stuff"--want to keep it all because I imagine it is good wood for burning and my carpenter has no interest in it at all and left all kinds of nails in it as well--terrible.. The one french door is not right and the other door had to be severely cut and need to fix the bottom of it----lots and lots of things to think about ---the young helper across the street is romancing his friend and off I go to this brand new day...Have looked at the stove for damage but never really seen it yet because I cannot pull the crate apart and right now this is protecting it---so it better have eyes "Space Bus" and become a trouble free stove cook top....it has talent....Thanks everyone.. Mrs Clancey

I love cooking on my wood burning cookstove, but standing too close to the door glass can probably ignite clothing with a vigorous fire. As long as you can stand to either side of the stove I think you will very much enjoy cooking on your stove as well. Cast iron cookware that can have direct flame exposure is a real treat to cook on. My cookstove currently has a solid glass top, but during the warmer months I like to use an outdoor wood burning cookstove and use my cast iron right on the flame. I'm going to try and cook a whole chicken over a wood fire in my Dutch oven this year as well.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and Spacebus that was a solid piece of information to know and now I know that I will need plenty of room on the sides just in case I decide to use the two burners in a emergencey. You might have with this information made the set up a little different to give me that amount of space on the sides...My installer is coming on the fifth walking around measuring and books and stuff --Oh brother---then the insurance man--he is a trip as well...Thanks (as I wait for the young romancer to get here to do some grunt work)--ha -- "In our day us young ones were different" Nowadays young people have it made but they have other problems we never had too. They are smart little innocents as well---"He better get here soon"---lol lol...Mrs Clancey...

While interesting, feedback is quiet because the current stage is not hearth-related. Construction stuff is usually posted in the DIY forum.

Did not think about that and maybe I should start a new type of thread in that area and it would be easier to keep a track of too..lol
Thanks....New thread coming just need to think about a name in DIY area ,,,clancey

Good deal. That's a nice place for asking construction questions as they come up. We'll stand by for when the stove starts getting installed.
The extension construction thread is now here:

I edited the title to make the thread easier to find for folks interested in the Sirius in the future.
