Great Day in the Woods! 10+ Cords and Counting…

Had a great day gathering wood this afternoon. I own 6.5 acres and the 10+ cords have all come from my woods. Lots of dead ash around here so that’s 75% of my pile right now. This year will be my first year burning all year since the stove was installed March 2021. Thinking I will use 3-5 cords a year but we will see.

Wood is cut with a Stihl 291 and all split with a Fiskars maul. Stove is a Hearthstone Heritage 8024.

So grateful to live on property that allows me to gather my own wood!

Amen brother I hear ya, good job and nice property, and the stacking looks good as well. The Yamaha is a beast also just got a 2021 Kodiak, put the King Quad to shame, however the quad never let me down.

Thanks! The grizzly with cart have hauled all that wood, awesome machine and insanely powerful. I have a decent hill on my property and it pulls a full cart no problem. First thing I did was cut a path that circled my woods when I bought the house, makes it easy to cut and gather.

Where you at in Ohio, I'm in Bath, my backyard is 24000 acres, I live within it, totally secluded , a rare thing in this area.

A Stihl and a Fiskars. I use the same tools. And I love that ash for firewood. Easy to split and burns well. I just like the look of it. Your ash up in Yankeeland is bigger than what we have down here in North Carolina. My biggest was about 18 inch diameter. I say "was" because all the ash trees around here died 2 years ago.

This really gets me primed for burn season. Thanks for sharing the pics. They tell the entire story of burning wood and how each step while hard work, is worth it in the end. I have a similar set up where I have plenty of wood either from my land or my neighbor's. Enjoy your first full season of burning.

Where you at in Ohio, I'm in Bath, my backyard is 24000 acres, I live within it, totally secluded , a rare thing in this area.

Wow that would be amazing! I am in Fairfield County, for us it’s a good mix of rural areas with convenience of bigger cities/towns nearby.
