Finally got my new splitter yesterday.

Had it delivered to my work because we have a loading dock and forklift so I could save the extra charge for liftgate truck service. This was the second time it had been shipped because the shipping company had destroyed the first one before it even got to me. I put the crate in my truck and started uncrating it last night when I got home.

This thing is heavy duty! Super thick steel! Made in the USA too, in Missouri.

Today, I spent a good bit of time trying to figure out how to get the skid down from my truck. Got it as far as the tailgate, and then just had my wife help me lift the pieces down by hand. Did I mention this thing is heavy duty?
Finally finished assembling it just before it got dark this evening, filled the hydraulic fluid reservoir, and bled the air out of the lines.

This splitter can be used horizontally or vertically

I also got the optional 4 way wedge with it. I can't remember if I mentioned already that this thing is heavy duty.

Well, of course I had to try it out after spending most of the day putting it together.

And I knew just the piece of wood to try first. This piece of beech has been laughing at me all summer. I've tried everything from my Gransfors axe to my Fiskars maul and wedge and sledge. This thing would not split by hand. I swear one time when I was walking away from it after failing to split it, I looked back and it was flipping me the bird.

So, of course, I had to get my revenge. Onto the Swisher it went. Slowed it down a bit, so I let off the handle. Bumped it again, and bang! That piece of beech popped apart with quite a noise.
Check out this grain and knots! No wonder I couldn't split it by hand.

Solarguy 3500 Looks like you have a nice new piece of equipment there. It will be nice not to hear that gas engine run all day. Enjoy the new {TOY} I mean tool. Better get splitting that wood. Winter is just around the corner.

Electric must be great! What is the voltage/amp requirement?
It comes wired for 110V but the manual says it's a dual voltage motor and you can have an electrician wire it for 220V.

The nameplate on the motor says 15.92A.

Yeah, I need to get going on splitting this weekend.

All the wood I'll be splitting now will be for 2-3 years from now, but I still need to get it split and stacked and out if my way for plowing the driveway.
