Hello everyone.
Im trying to run a thermostat on my Englander pellet stove in my workshop, but the stove is not responding to the thermostat. It is a Honeywell low voltage / multi voltage thermostat as recommended by the manufacturer. My question is… with the jumper wire out of the board, and NO thermostat wires hooked up at all, should the hopper auger stop turning ? Mine still turns.
Thanks,
Scot

Your upper auger should not run at all if the jumper is removed and no thermostat connection. Sounds like a control board issue

If the jumper is pulled and no thermostat hooked up, it should still turn, it will just run at heat setting 1. This is assuming (always dangerous) that you're set for high / low. If you're set for on / off, then it shouldn't turn after the startup cycle is done.

Thanks Eric. I don’t know if it’s high / low or on / off. Does it need to be set to on / off in order for the thermostat to work correctly ? When I had the thermostat hooked up, it never stopped feeding pellets, so The temp in the room kept climbing.

On/Off with stat just that. Heat call stove fires up satisfies the stat turns off.
Hi/Lo stat heat call stove goes to high heat satisfies the stat goes to idle (low heat). does not turn the stove off.

How do I view / change the mode it’s in ? I would like it to be in on / off so my thermostat works.

Not knowing what model you have, your manual is your friend. They can be found here:

I have the manual for my stove, my model is 25 PDVC / SHP- 10. Unless I am missing something, it does not tell me how to switch from the hi / low setting to the on / off setting so the thermostat works as a shut off. It just says to add a thermostat, just remove the jumper and add a thermostat.

On those stoves, if I am following what you want..
The stove will always feed, it will just run at level 1 setting (very low)
If your auger stops completely, and the stove goes out, it will not start on it's own...
if you have the stove set to 6, the t-stat, just brings the stove down to 1.
