Anyone own the Matrix Wood Insert, and what is your experience with it? Also, what size logs do you use? I understand the recommended size is 16”.

I do not own a matrix but I have looked a few they look like a very well made unit. It looks to me like 16" wood could be loaded front to rear. I prefer loading that way because its easier to pack the firebox full. Btw I see your name is Wildwoodphoto are you in Wildwood MO?

Which matrix as they have 3 different sizes?

We have a 2700 Matrix insert. It's our first year with it. Aside from my learning curve, and access to truly seasoned wood it's been really nice. I do have a hard time keeping the edges of the glass totally clear...but it's not bad.
Our house is wide open with an fairly unique floor plan, 3,300 square feet. The Osburn got us almost to Jan. without turning the furnace on at all. Some chilly mornings, but otherwise comfortable. Now the furnace is on and kicks on here are there depending on the outside temp.

Wondering about reviews for the Matrix OB0228 as well. Deciding between this and the Regency CI2700.
Did make a decision? I am looking at the same two models (Matrix OB0228 and the Regency CI2700) and trying to decide (also considering the Neo 2.5). I'm leaning towards the non-cat, because I'm reading they are a finicky, even though I love the look of the Regency. The comments about the blower on the Matrix also make me nervous. And read about some issues with uneven fires on the Neo!! So seems like everything has its pluses and minus... if you are having a great experience, let me know please! Priorities are aesthetics and ease of use, since this is not going to be our primary heat source.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. But we went with the Matrix 0228 and had installed late this spring. I just finished doing our burn ins and did our first full load last night and so far so good! The stove will act as our secondary heat source. The fan is kind of loud but not bad. I do wish it had adjustable speeds though, but I think this can be done with an aftermarket variable speed outlet plug. Other half loves the look of it and it is really easy to get the fire going. We do have about 25 ft or so of SS insulated liner and a block off plate. No issues with draft, if anything it might be on the stronger side. Next I'm going to test burn times and see how long an overnight load will last. The air control is easy, I was able to get it dialed in on the lowest air control setting. This is my first stove and I'm still learning a ton about stoves and their operation. I'll keep you updated as the days get colder.

I installed one last April, not much heat output. It’s been a nightmare I am trying to figure out what the issue is and how to resolve.
Same! Mine is an Enerzone Destination 2.3 but it’s the same stove and we don’t really get much heat from it. Did you get anywhere? I just pulled the front panels off to try to release some of the heat. Also should try insulating behind it but I can’t imagine that will dramatically change anything. We’re really disappointed.

How's your draft?
The draft is great. I took off the decorative panels in front and measured 700 degrees at one point. The stove is getting HOT but most of the heat must be going up the chimney. I stuffed some rockwool up by the blocking plate and some around the back but no change, it still barely heats the room it's in. I think I'm dumping this and going to a freestanding stove on the hearth, probably a Hearthstone Castleton, one of the few rear-flue models that will fit in front of my fireplace.
