Hello! I'm looking to purchase a stove. I can't afford a new one, but I want one that is legit and burns clean. I was looking at a 1981 HearthStone (I posted in the older stove thread), and then I saw this Vermont Castings beauty: https://rockies.craigslist.org/for/d/steamboat-springs-vermont-castings-wood/7435069539.html
Wondering if you can offer any thoughts about the price and what I should look for. Also, is it generally a much better deal than a 1981 HearthStone? https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/for/d/livermore-soap-stone-wood-coal-stove/7434164082.html
It's for a small but drafty outbuilding that someone is living in.
Thanks so much!

I wouldn't buy either of them honestly. I find it strange I have seen quite a few of these VC stoves a year or two old for sale at a fraction of the original price. To me that indicates there may be a problem

If that’s your price point take a look at stoves by Drolet and True North. Both have solid reputations. Both are value lines of larger stove companies. I just got a Drolet and it’s living up to my expectations.
