Enviro M55 cast insert Blinking #4 code

Hello everyone. I've read all of the previous posts and determined that our issue is most likely the hopper switch but could be the high limit sensor. The stove burned all day/night Saturday, we loaded pellets Sunday morning and because it was cold cranked it to 2 and after a bit of time moved the heat setting to 3 and the stove went out. Since then we have pulled the stove out and given it a deep cleaning, still no dice. When turning on the fan starts, pellets drop, pellets ignite, pellets stop and it goes out. After that when we try again, no pellets will drop.

We've found and exposed the high temp sensor under the control panel, but I can't tell if it's tripped or not. When I press on the red button nothing happens so I'm assuming it's not tripped? Is the red button supposed to be flush with the switch if it is not tripped? Ours is not flush but I cannot press it down to hear a click to reset it.

As far as the dang hopper sensor switch, we are having a heck of a time finding it! Help please... We have located the magnet on the underside of the sliding top lid and it's there, but cannot locate the corresponding switch on the stove. Can anyone provide a photo? I found the attached diagram but just cannot find the bolt looking thing that is identified as the hopper switch.

I appreciate all of the other posts about this issue, but we're not able to resolve it without further guidance. We're not too confident with ourselves with jumping the electrical wiring to bypass the switch.

It would be right under that magnet, perhaps even on the other side of the metal. I would guess you have to remove a side to get to it, unless you can get to it by removing the control panel.

The magnet is on the sliding cover. It looks like the switch must be right next to the rear of the control panel. It’s possible the magnet has been knocked from its correct position on the cover. It won’t fall off! It should be on the little “boss” or “bump“ cast into the underside rear of the cover. It’s pretty near the right rear edge. Also, if the slide is loose, it’s possible the cover has moved up enough for the magnet to not be close enough to close the switch.

edit - looking closely at the parts diagram and the control panel, it looks like the switch is positioned such that it sticks through a hole in the control panel board (but under the control panel overlay).

We pulled the stove out to see if that would reveal something maybe that I was missing when it was in, but no. Check this out, taking off the control panel you can clearly see where the sensor should be but it's just not there. Nor does it appear anything has ever been there. The magnet on the underside of the lid is firmly in place so I have no idea what it does as there's no switch on the inside that it connects to. While we had it out we unplugged it for a while thinking maybe it needed a reset. Put it all back together and turned it on - blower kicks on, lights on the panel light up but no pellets drop and still blinking #4.🤷‍♀️

Gonna have to find someone with some Enviro M55 insert knowledge to service it I guess. Perhaps the high temp switch could be faulty (it's not tripped though) or the control panel is going bad but before we buy some parts I'm hoping to find a professional to look at it.

The cover switch goes in that line. The stove will work fine with no cover switch as long as the overheat switch is not open and the wires connect, it should work. I suggest disconnecting at least one wire from the switch and check the switch for continuity. You can even take both wires off the temp switch and connect them together to bypass the overtemp switch and the stove should work. if you do that and it still doesn’t work, maybe the wire is broken or loose somewhere between there and the control board.

We ordered a new daughter board, installed it, same blinking 4. Bypassed the high temp switch. Still blinking 4. We're down to the wires I guess.. will trace them back to the panel and see if they are loose or damaged and go from there.

OK just gonna throw this out there. There seems there MAY have been some bad info for some Enviro stoves/ control boards, and 4 blink MAY be indicating an open vacuum switch. Anyway,easy to jumper/bypass and try.

I think we've had a mouse in there... the orange wire has issues... currently splicing to see what happens.

Well thats not good.(or could be good,lol) On e even looks chewed all the way through, separating the conductor.

Success!! Those orange wires were laying on the convection blower fan so it either got nicked by that or a mouse. We used a butt splice and wire tied the wires away from the fan. Voila! Pellets dropped and fired up and we are back in business!! I've missed this heat.
