My son has a toy leaf blower sitting in his toy box near the wood stove. I have the realzation that it would work perfect to reinginite some weak coals in the stove. So i gave it a shot, let me tell you that it is the replacement for the old style hand bellows. Its like a mini blacksmith forge blower. Can get a fire restarted with hardly any coals left. It is now part of my wood stove kit.

How does the kid feel about you stealing his blower?

I've stoked many a campfire with the 18V ryobi blower. Easier on the lungs.

I don't know the power of the toy, but you don't get ash dust blowing back into the room?

I picked up a cheap inflator that's meant to fill up air mattresses that works very well. Actually a little too well since i have to block half the intake so i dont get ash everywhere nor smoke to come out of the door. Once a little draft is established then it's wide open and gets things going in a hurry.

I've used a hair dryer or Leaf Blower on the Fire Pit, worked great. Tried the hair dryer on the woodstove, ash flew everywhere, Boss Lady wasn't happy, won't try that again:oops:

I made this out of a piece of old hydraulic line. Heated one end in the forge and tapered the end with an 8 penny nail in it to center the hole. Turned a piece of hedge for the other end.
Works great if your coals are almost gone.

I can see that happening for sure! With this, it has the long tube and smashed tip allowing you to direct the air more easily. Also, with the long air tube, it allows one to keep the wood stove door closed a bit. Which helps keep ashes/sparks inside the stove.
