I found a woods 2 miles away thats been logged and the tree tops are all mine!!! Wood has been down for little over a year.

Lots of White Oak, Red Oak, Hickory and Ash.

Already cut 3 truck loads and my neighbor whose property is next to it came out with his 4 wheel drive little ford diesel tractor and we pulled logs out into an open field for easy access. :)

Great, I had a spot like that (all Burr Oak) 4 miles away but they sold the land now. Need a picture of the tractor pulling out the logs.

Well now I'm jealous. Not only are you on a great scrounge but you've got someone helping with a cool tractor. I need pics.

Excellent - I don't mind working tops at all - I'm a big fan of lots of rounds. Cheers!

Nice score huntindog1! And a +1 on the rounds NH_Wood! Takes a little longer to get them dried out, but they are perfect. I love getting rounds that are 3-6" in diameter. Nice size for the wife and kids to handle too.

Good for you, but tops are not going to make me weak at the knees.... :cheese: All stright 20" ers and no tops would make me jealous though.

Had a score like that at work 2 summers ago. Cleared about 3/4 of an acre or so. All 14-22" red oak, white birch and beech. Loggers cut and limbed everything and got rid of the brush and the tops and left us all the bottoms stacked up in a nice low pile. Never had easier pickings except the time I dropped a couple trees right on top of my splitting area at home.

One 3/4 ton pickup load of rounds heaped up over the rails every other day (M, W and F) every week for close to 2 months. I was tired and got really dirty and wet (fresh cut red oak is a very wet wood) but I'm still splitting the stuff now. Must have been a solid 10-12 cords.

OH YEAH! Well, I've got......ah nevermind. Congrats.

I'm jealous of his 4 wheel drive little ford diesel tractor.

sounds great, and I am jeaolous....lol...Hey those tops need love too! I like to have lots of those small rounds (I cut everything for firewood from 2" up) for morning starts and to fill in the cracks between the big splits for long burns. Get them bucked up, stacked up, and split everything over 5-6" so it will be ready by next fall. Great score, and I am with oldspark, I want some pics!!

Good find. Being close to home just sweetens the pot.

Had a guy 3 weeks ago giving away his hardwood back yard. He cut and bucked and I loaded into my truck. I love a good scrounge.

Neighbor had a 10acre plot logged out of nothing but practically virgin timber 1/2mi down the road. All stumps were 30"+ in size. That was 6yrs ago and weeds took over before we could get it all out.

Here is some pics. I hauled out some of the big stuff already, these pics are what is left till we get some more dragged out.
First pic is of my son helping Dad out.

I'm with smokin on this one, but my dad allways said beggers can't be choosers.
