Now that we have done some tweaking to the Napoleon 1900P, I'm getting excited to get her fired up for the first time this season. I did a really good cleanout and also tore all the skirting off of the stove to clean out the dust from the past year's burning. Also blew out the blower motor with compressed air, and lubed the bearings. But the biggie modification was opening up the top cover so I could fit my favorite stockpot directly onto the top of the stove. The somewhat "cheesy" trivet that is on this stove from the factory is square, and will not accomodate a pot or pan. They sell an even "cheesier" cooktop adapter (basically a cast aluminum heat sink that fits into the hole the trivet sets over), but it doesn't do a great job of cooking. It'll warm up water to where it steams off a little, but not very much. Anyway, got the plasma cutter out and opened it up a little.......

A pic of the layout on the trivet....

the black lines where we are gonna cut it out, and a pic with the factory trivet removed. ..

after I cleaned off the slag and sanded it smooth, I tack welded the cutouts to the old square trivet....

finished welding (slowly, so I didn't warp the metal), and did a final grind/sanding to make it smooth, then painted it up with some Hi-Temp flat black paint...

ran out of room, go to next post to see it installed......

Here's the stove, after cleaning and some Rutland black stove polish, reinstalled side panels and modified top. Cleaned and polished the whole stove, too! Now, if we could just get some cold weather!!!

Thanks Rick. We wanted something different so I made it in a "scallop" shape. We're going to tile the entryway in our living room to match this hearth, with the same tile. I made the hearth bigger than it needed to be, because down the road, I'm getting a cookstove. I really REALLY like the Esse Ironheart cookstove. That's on my bucket list........

Excellent work Scott. That entryway will also look great.
