Or not...

Old Farmers Almanac prediction:
"The new Old Farmer's Almanac is out, with weather predictions through October 2013.
Although its projection is for this winter to be generally cold and dry, snow is in the forecast for the second half of December for the Atlantic Corridor from Richmond, Va., to Boston.
"The snowiest periods will be in mid-December, just before Christmas, and in mid- to late February," says the Region 2 Forecast.
These specifics are even given:
Dec. 15-20: "Rain and snow, then sunny, cold." Dec. 21-25: "Periods of rain and snow, turning cold." Dec. 26-29: "Snow showers, cold."

Heck, snow is even mentioned around Election Day (Nov. 6) and right after Thanksgiving (Nov. 22). It's "rain to snow, then sunny, cold" for Nov. 6 to 14, and "wet snow, cold" for Nov. 23 to 25.

Geography should be factored in, of course, expecting that rain's more likely toward the Virginia end, snow up toward Massachusetts, with Philadelphia in the middle.
But the publication's national forecast map even calls for a "cold, snowy" winter across much of the South, from Northern Texas to Georgia and up into Virginia.

My crystal ball says normal winter.

I have 6 cords of 3 year seasoned firewood for the insert downstairs, and 8 tons of Greene Teams for the pellet stove upstairs. I'm ready.

I believe it when I see it! :p

Cold and Snow for the Northeast; it's that way every year.

Nope not ready! I have enough fuel(could alway use more) and stove is ready. But I'm not! Not ready to put the summer stuff away just yet! First frost was last weekend. Froze or can's off out on the water! Friday we have our first freeze warning. Will be on the water with a bit more warm stuff on! Was hoping for a long drawn out fall and we'd ease into this win......... win.......... win..............thing! Shucks still can't say it! ;em

Well, I hope its true.
I need to justify all the cutting and splitting.
Blowing off the oil company is fun too.

Well, last year it snowed a foot on Halloween - single biggest snowstorm all year, lol. One thing's for sure - it will be winter, and it will be cold. The rest is just details...

I have 3 ton plus 22 bags, want to get a 4th ton int he next couple of weeks, and still want more! Put my 4th bag this season in today. Stove's been on room/manual all day maintaining 68 in the house. Been going since about 9:30 a.m. and got about 5 lbs left in hopper.

You know, of course, there are only two seasons here in New England; winter and July.

I don't care what the Almanac says Wisconsin rewrites the book to her liking anyway:eek:. 4 ton on hand grabbing another this weekend. Us snowplow drivers like to be warm in the cab and in our homes.
