Ok, I couldn't resist. I know, first fires of the season are a "dime a dozen" but it turns me on so here is the little Hampton cookin'
Hampton 2012 edit.JPG
And here is another pic that turns me on........My chimneys.....both are going. Can you tell which one is the old Buck, smoke dragon, and which one is the new EPA certified Hampton.....I didn't think so. I love my old Buck. I know, I know......

Chief, I love that hearth and stove! Looks mighty cozy right there! Nothing wrong with braggin it up, either.....you're only fueling all our passions for the burning season!

As far as which is which, I'd say your have your fuel seasoned to perfection 'cause I can't see a damm bit of smoke out of either one!

Looks nice!! No worries on the redundant "first fire" threads. I read them all in envy.

I plan to finally have my first fire tomorrow evening.
Treacherous, can't wait to see pics of your first burn;)

Thanks Scotty! I will admit that the old Buck is a lot harder to burn efficiently than the new little Hampton, but that old dog has kept my butt warm for over 30 years and I still love it. I love the new little Hampton in the kitchen, and more importantly, the wife loves it......that's her stove! ;)

Chief i to love the hearth, and that is great how clean your burn is
Thanks etiger2007! We like it too. And yes, you can burn the old ones clean, it is just more of a challenge. Having both, I willing admit that the new EPA stoves are really amazing. Just hard to give up the old Buck after it has kept me warm for so many years......maybe someday, but not right now.;)

How many and what size candles are burning in the Buck? ;lol

You're a hoot BB. Trust me, the old Buck is burning strong and putting out more heat than the little Hampton.......I know, I will never convince you, but you can't break the bond I have with the old Buck. It has just served me to well for to many years......maybe someday I will retire her, but not right now.;)

I have said it before Chief. If the old big Sierra insert hadn't popped a weld that couldn't be reached it would probably still be heating this joint. And along about five hundred stove top it stopped smoking too. And I know about bond breaking. That bad boy is sitting in the back corner of the yard and night before last I was sitting in a lawn chair in front of it enjoying the heat.

Have a great burning season my friend.

I love it when you can't see smoke coming out of a stack on a clean burn. Most days my neighbors don't even know our stove is running. My one particular neighbor, burning 1 year c/s oak looks like he is electing a pope every weekend with his smoke.

Picture perfect hearth there Chief.

I'm with ya! First fire in the Jotul. Really wanted to have the chimney swept before starting the new season but one little burn should be OK right? :)

Probably. But don't wait jatoxico, a clean chimney is really important. If your chimney is clean you can't have a chimney fire.

Beautiful setup you have there Chief, enjoy the night in front of the fire, hopefully my first burn will be tomorrow night.

Thanks weatherguy. Wife came home and said oooh it feels good in here. My son in law is from Plymouth Massachusetts.

I'd sure like to see that in person.

Thanks BB. I am pretty good. The doc says I am all healed. As for 100%, I don't think it will ever be what it used to be. I still hurt a lot sometimes and wear down a lot faster than I used to. But I am not complaining. I am doing just about everything I used to do.
