I bought the tractor last July and finally got a dump trailer last week. I spent a few months looking for something that would be able to hold enough wood to fill my firewood ring which will hold a weeks worth of wood. This was my trial run and it looks like I can haul a good bit more if I stack it in the trailer instead of tossing it. This will also come in handy when we are looking at two weeks of bad weather since I can fill my rack then store another load in the pole barn.

Got one of these awhile back!
It helps the back!

It holds about the same as your trailer.
I love the 2 wheels and metal handles!

Nice addition to the tool shed .
Nice color ;)

I think I'd give up on heating with wood if I went through that much wood in a week! I have about 1/2 a cord on my porch and that will last about a month

I wish I burned that amount of wood in a week.

John Deere stuff is just pretty...

very nice.

Holy cow! Do you live in a matchbox? Cheers!

X500? Dang. totally jealous. I love my Deere. Liquid Cooled Kawasaki engine. My mower likes to think it's a big tractor, so it has lugs on the back AND front. To top it all off I just added a nice adjustable hydraulic seat. Looks like the dumbest thing I ever saw drive around a city yard, but I love it nonetheless.

Danno, I have that same one, broken hood and all.
Well not the fancy seat, mines customized from when I set my drop light on it.

JoeyD, that thing's shinier than a brand new penny.;lol
Nice setup. How many cu. ft. is the trailer? I got mine from the depot @ 17 cu. ft., and can fit just under 1/6th cord if I stack and take it high. Loose thrown, not so much.
Love the seat Danno, and where did you get the tires?

That's an 18 Cart. 18 Cu ft, Heaped, ;lol . (Marketing....)

The diamond in the rough here is that liquid-cooled Kawi twin under that beat to chit hood. ;lol Bet it purrs like a kitten.

I guess that fiberglass hood was a problem, all the LX models from that timeperiod have crappy hoods. I have dreams of messing with some new fiberglass, but never get around to it. Note the super sweet fix using plywood and green paint near the hinge point at the front of the hood. I wish that replacing the hood wasn't as expensive as buying a whole new mower from Sears...

Fronts from petestire.com ($62 shipped), rears from tiresunlimited.com ($108 shipped). Those prices are a couple years old, but I highly recommend both sellers if you ever need anything. My Craftsman has a pair of lugs on the rear that I got at my local farm store, don't remember the brand, but the Deere has Carlisle tires all around.

Danno, those hoods aren't fiberglass like the earlier 100 series machines (160/165, 170/175, 180/185). They're plastic and yup, pretty brittle. Newer tractors have a different plastic that is damned near indestructible. I feel your pain, those hoods are mega-bucks.

yep, you are right. as I think about it, it is plastic...

Who makes the engine for the X500? that's still the air cooled, right? seems like I remember the liquid cooled engine being on the X700 series mowers.

I think that's how they are all done anymore. My 12 cu ft cart is heaped capacity...

I think they tend to overstate the max weight...it's not the max safe weight...it's the max weight before catastrophic failure will occur.

Thanks Danno but don't be jealous, I wish I had the knowledge to buy an older tractor and maintain it. Anything more complicated then bolt and unbolt and it goes to someone who knows what they are doing. Although i did tear down and paint a 1952 Farmall super A that is just used to give the kids a ride now and then. I really impressed myself when it actually ran after I put it back together. What helped with that tractor was that everything was in near perfect condition so all I did was unbolt, strip then paint it. I took digital pictures before taking anything apart to assist me and believe me that is was saved me.

Also my x500 has an air cooled Kawasaki and the cart is 18 cubic feet, heaped
.

Both Air and liquid cooled Kawi's on the X500 series.

Nope, normal sized 3 bed, 2 bath house
. Decent insulation, I'd guess that helps. I usually burn about 3-3.5 cords a winter keeping the house in the low 70s.

I've been around lots of mowers and small tractors, but if someone said to me "grab a mower and drive it across the country" I'd get on something with a diesel Yanmar (Like dad's older Deere ZTR) or a liquid cooled Kawasaki. I know that's a stupid scenario, but darnit if those engines aren't freaking spectacular. The Kohler in my Craftsman is ok, better than a lot of other options, but it just seems so much "rougher" than the one in my JD.
