This is dating myself. I'm sure my ars will be sticking to it under the right conditions. :)

After all this talk about milk crates, I figured I would give it a try on the larger rounds and see if it easier than the tractor bucket.

Plastic or metal? :)

I think I have one of those, never thought about it but probably not too many of those around any more.

Yeah, but how do you operate that splitter in horizontal mode sitting down? Or is that the "Supervisors" chair?

Look closely and you'll see a hot seat on top of the milk crate. Also, I use both plastic and wire. Almost ruined one of the wire crates last spring when I tried to back the trailer over it. Fear not though, we have more.

Look at all that ash in your pile! That's a shame that the EAB did so much damage, they are headed our way.

I think my folks had them. Either "Twin Pines" or "Sealtest". Back in the day, they delivered right to your door in glass bottles.
Take care,
Tim

I had to laugh when I seen this thread. Not because splitting vertical is absolutely unthinkable but today I was replacing the water pump on my 3/4 ton pickup and I was using a red milk crate to stand on. Well, long story short, my dang foot broke thru the top of the milk crate which caused me to reach up and I grabbed the dang hood and pulled it down as well! Needless to say the hood hit my head and my foot was STUCK inside that milkcrate.
I had to slowly work that crate off of my foot. Ouch!!!!!!:mad::mad:

Are you okay? I think I had to go to the hospital when I did that.

Dennis, that looks like a couch cushion.
Does the wifey know you're using living room furniture in the woods?;lol

Not so Dave! ;lol That is a genuine hot seat. Bought that for hunting probably 30+ years ago. Actually I have probably a half dozen of them.

Thistle, I also use a wire crate when cutting wood. Oil, gas, wedges, sharpener, etc. goes in the crate.

Scotty, that stack was probably 95% white ash. There is still enough from that stack to get us through next winter. And yes, it really is a shame. I was hoping to get the rest of the dead stuff cut this winter but it may have to wait another year.

I think most of mine are either McDonald's or Borden. Yes, I not only remember the glass bottles but also remember when milk deliveries were the norm and in Owosso, they had horses right into the 1950's. Funny, when they got to the end of the route, there was nothing to stop those hoses from heading home fast! I used to visit an uncle in Owosso and found it interesting to watch the horses and have milk on the doorstep every day. At home, we just went to the milkhouse with a bucket to get what we needed.

I'm thinking the wire one could leave some serious grill marks without a cushion.

We still have milk floats delivering milk in glass bottles round here!

People keep nicking the crates though.

No idea why.........;)
