WOW!
& Not covered by insurance. Amazing.

well I assume the truck is insured for liability only ( common for a 20+ year old vehicle here in WA) so truck is not covered, However the messed up part is now if the tree falls into the house. house is not covered because they tried to collect on homeowners INS on the truck. I would think they could find someone under $3200 to deal with this situation

That'll buff right out...

Something tells me, the news isn't telling us everything here.

Typically the homeowner is responsible for anything that occurs on their property including damage from vegetation. I know because I've specifically asked on our policy, as we have a number of mature trees, some of which have the potential for crossing the property line. I was informed that if our trees fall across and damage anything on adjacent property that we are responsible (and covered by insurance).

Could be that there are specific riders on the insurance that specifically precluding any coverage for vegetation?

Regardless, I'm glad no one was injured, that top could have been a killer.

Ouch. Good thing no one was sitting in the drivers seat of that one. $3200 ? WT_? Someone is trying to make a lot of money quickly.

Maybe they could just drive the truck (with the tree in it) to the dump...

Something sounds wrong. The truck was owned by the couple and they were visiting her parents. It was the parents tree that damaged her truck, shouldn't the parents homeowner insurance cover it?

Exactly. You are right, something is wrong there.

It was only a matter of time before the trees started to strike back. Be careful out there guys -- the trees are on to our nefarious plans to cut them down and burn 'em. ;)

You've got me thinking there FFJ. Maybe next year when I go cut, up in our forests, I might make an attempt to plant a sapling or two for every tree taken? I'm guessing the USFS would appreciate it.

Cheers!

You josh . . . but I have been known to plant acorns on the family land . . . figure I'll never get any use out of them, but since there are few oaks growing there perhaps some day someone will enjoy cutting down a few of the oaks.

Nah, not pulling your chain.

With the pine beetle kill taking 90+% of the lodgepole pine around here, the forests are rapidly changing. I'm pretty certain that the USFS would be glad to have some reforestation efforts made voluntarily.

Wouldn't take any time at all to spike in a few saplings as I'm cutting.

The Ent's are coming:)

The Ents are cool. I thought that was a really cool part in that trilogy. The Hobbit will be out soon. Can't wait to see it on the big screen.

Here's another scary one. There was a couple in the car when this happened! I guess the driver had only a few inches before being totally crushed but the couple came out of this okay. Not so for the car.
