Collecting Firewood

I'm diggin' this guy's retrieval rig.

Loading/unloading on the barge looks a little hairy.

I'm all about doing stuff the "easy way" but winching those little peckerpoles was not exactly productive.

No tail lights or even a flag on the long logs... just asking for an accident or a ticket from the DOT.

Love it. Looks like a well thought out process...and using a raft to gather wood ups it's coolnest factor.

Talk about low impact logging! Never seen so many dedicated small machine models in one clip. I would man up and load the small stuff by hand, but to each his own. Seems a waste of time to strap a cable to a 20lb limb. Very cool though.

I was thinking the same thing, but if the guy had a back problem this way he could still keep working.

Makes me very grateful that I can go several hundred feet from my house and cut all the firewood I need (w/o a boat!)

Clearly with all the ingenuity involved there must be a simple way to put a seat on that skid steer and drive that sucker instead of towing it around like a wagon. Great little machine though!!

That's a lot of equipment just to keep the house warm.

Seems like a lot of pine or soft wood.
Pretty cool contraption though.

way cool...don't think that it was in the u.s. as the plate looked european. so dot wouldn't be a problem. sometimes, in the name of "safety", we complicate things a lot more than they need to be....jmho

Boy I could use a rig like that.......would be nice to get those saw logs off of the ridge.

notice the license plate that looks like a European tag, Scotland, England or somewhere. Those guys do crazy things, just look at some of the towing videos of them towing 18ft sailboats with tiny Volvos and the like!!

You would not want to make a mistake with the throttle, then you would be in the water with the track machine coming in after you.

Its interesting,but I'd much rather have this instead.....

I thought that track machine is very cool. Great for smaller trails, woods with a lot of trees close together like mine. These would not get as good of traction but they look handy as well.

Funny I came across this video the other night when I was surfing on my phone on how to stack a HH.
I was going to post it but got caught up in firewood videos......hehe

This is one I saw before. Looks like it has good traction. I don't think I would want to be under the load going up stairs though.

WOW. This is impressive. To bad this couldn't pick up wood.

Pretty damn ingenious IMHO.

I'm a self confessed gadget junkie, and think the entire setup was pretty slick.

Those are pretty slick.I see similar units with 2 or 4 'highway' tires in front used for placing concrete in areas where they cant use a pump truck or get the chutes any closer.Most of the them are riding buggies,I started out with those old Prime Movers that are walk behind & some of the earliest had removable starter pull cord you wrapped around that pulley & did your thing.... I so much prefer electric start on those beasts.
