Ma hature did me a solid!

ash1.JPGash2.JPGash3.JPGash5.JPG During last nights high winds Mother Nature brought down one of the 3 very large ash that I have been eying up right behind the house and strategizing my approach. Fortunately this is the one I considered the most dangerous to drop due to all the dead limbs up top. All I need to do is drop the stump/bottom 20' or so now. And the really good news is she was very selective on her drop site and put it right where I wanted with minimal damage to other live trees I would like to preserve!! For perspective that base is easily pushing the 30" range - probably 36". You can see how close to the house it is so not much travel to the wood pile!! Can a moderator please fix my tilte to say "nature" I am not a wood hater!! arggg!!

BobUrban, it's always nice when M/N puts it on the ground. We've had our share of trees M/N put on the ground, after today hopefully a few more.

Yea that one was a bonus, especially because of all the precarious dead limbs up top and the fact that it fell perfectly over the trail so I can get gear and trailer right up to it. After last nights wind storm I was hoping for a few more. Took my hike through the enchanted firewood forest with my dog after getting back from the kids wrestling tourney(I coach) and the other biguns' were all still standing. Dog gone it! More ash than time out there but I will keep chipping away as the ground is all nicely frozen and I have all winter. The backyard gem will go no where and I can tackle it anytime. I think I have 2+ cord split already and another 1-2 cord bucked. I am ahead of where I was at this time last year so the stash is growing:)

Bob, I have a couple we're hoping for some help from Mother Nature. Maybe we will luck out and go back there and find them down now. It is always nice to have some help like that.
