I'm not real sure when the revisions took place, there have been at least 6. They box that the stove came in would have said what revision it was, do you happen to recall what revision it said? The dealer should be able to run the Serial number on it, that should tell you.
They are sending new front door hinges, mine were sagging from the start and rubbed when they were closed.

I'm glad they are trying to work with you. Don't settle for just a thicker gasket as a bandaid. This needs to be fixed. Leaving it there for a week seems a bit inconvenient. Would he swap the floor model lid with you for the week? Or would he be ok telling you the date that the mfg rep will show and you bring in the top on that day, or is that not good for you?

He doesn't know exactly when the rep is coming, and he doesn't want to take a chance that we'd miss him. I can live with this as long as it leads somewhere.

I really have to figure out what's going on with the lid gasket itself. Don't want this happening to a new lid. Have to pick up a level.

That's good news. The dealer really should be the one checking the stove body. It helps to have a trained eye here. Be a polite squeaky wheel.

Do you monitor stovetop temps in any way? Just curious...we have a thermometer on the stovetop, and one on the stack, and we let temps dictate our damper and air settings.

Well I now have 3 thermometers! Stove top, stove pipe, and IR. No more chances.

But even before the thermos, I've been timid and have never had the stove running when we weren't sitting in front of it. It's never been out of control and never glowed, etc.

I don't think that lid could or would warp even if you had overfired it. The lid just sits there, it's not bolted down, it's free to expand and contract as it pleases.
The red Leyden that I was trying out (as a replacement to the Brown one that wouldn't work correctly) went totally out of control half way through the burn. My stove top was reading at least 1,000::F, nothing warped or cracked. I'm sure you haven't had yours that hot.

After dealing with Lopi for almost 10 years, I never once had to wait for a rep to approve a warranty claim. If I had any questions I could call the factory or my distributor right then and there, maybe sent a picture and have my answer on warranty coverage. It's been five years, so things may have changed but it seems like the dealer is dragging their feet. I would do what begreen said and be a polite squeaky wheel.

When you drop it off be sure to let them know that you depend on the stove for more than ambiance and a plant stand. Hopefully you will have an answer and a new lid by this weekend.
