1. Find a 70 foot tree
2. Lasso it
3. Climb and strap yourself to it (check out the 2 ladders strapped together to give it enough height. whoa.)
4. Cut it down (first 35') (above your head please!)
5. Wait for the cool thud that shakes the house windows
5. Send your saw down the zip line, you climb down in your gaffs
6. Cut the last 35' down....hope your clearance measurements to the house were good
7. wait for one more cool thud and rejoice
8. Start cutting 'er up
9. Thanks the friends who helped haul and stack it

Love my winters too, I just wish they were a month shorter...summer is too brief. BTW, these shots were taken in August 2012. We're in snow and ice now and the snowmobilers are flying around the farm fields and woods having a blast.

I do this kind of stuff on a bi-weekly basis in the spring and summer, this will be my first year doing it exclusively with rope ascenders and such (used gaffs and freeclimbing before, all with a harness of course....).

Nothing like the rush of topping a tree up 50-60 foot above the ground.......makes you feel alive again!

Rope ascenders, I'll check it out. Just got the gaffs - feel like spiderman - ya'll stick to anything... :)

And yeah!, makes you feel grateful to be alive when you're on the ground again. So says my wife.
