Now that I have burned about 1 1/2 cords this season, I have room to start stacking my Sandy droppings. I also had my arborist friend come and take down a dying Norway Maple that was in the middle my wood stack. Its neighbor went down on my neighbor's shed during Irene last year and I was afraid this one would do same.

With that tree out of the way I was able to replace some rotten pallets and started stacking what should be 2015-2016 wood.

I'll get the other trunk out of the way as I move more wood up to the front porch. I haven't processed any wood since March 2012. It feels good to be back into it. I sure need the exercise too! I have to burn off some holiday fat. I've got some to work to do now.

Looking good, Steve. I've gotta get my living room remodel done so I can get out and get started with cutting. Lots of tree jobs scheduled, but I'm not allowed to start cutting again til I get that room done......she'd KILL me......

Good to see you are back at it Steve. I know how it feels. After spring 2012, we didn't get started until December 1. Still cutting and enjoying it but going at it very slowly. Sure was nice to be out there cutting today. Felt like an October day.

I just don't want to be doing this in the summer again!

Sure can't blame you for that Steve. I too have no desire to do this in the summer months.

Making some progress now.

I cut down the remains of the other tree yesterday so I could lay out more pallets.

I have some Norway Maple that I'm putting on top of the BL for shoulder season 2015. I have never laid out a stack like this before. The plan is to burn the Maple first, then move to the BL. Sounds like a good plan, but I think it will end up being more of PIA than anything when I get into it. I have much more of the Norway Maple than I really want to deal with. I guess I am a wood snob.:)

Go ahead and be a wood snob Steve. lol When we stack the winter's supply in the barn we keep the oak in one area. So right now all the oak is right in front so it is easy to get to. Works like a charm.

I've made some more progress in the last two months. The stack is now about 20' feet long X 41/2 high X 41/2 deep, or a little over 3 cords.

The stack of Sandy Locust in much smaller now too. I'm looking forward to having some of the driveway back after almost 5 months!

Here's another load on its way down to the stack.

The stack is mostly Black Locust with some Red Oak and Norway Maple. Once I fill that hole I'll be done until next winter.

I finally got my driveway back! C/S/S the last of it yesterday.

I'm still going to need about 1/2 cord to fill the stack. I have it lined up, just have to go get it. This will be 2015-16 wood. Mostly Black Locust with about 1/2 cord Red Oak and some Norway Maple. It should burn nice after 3 years in the sun and wind.
